Fiction Killed Reality

Taking the concept of death photographer  Tiago Costa and set designer Inês Ferreira created this series he called, “Fiction Killed Reality”, where he staged 4 kinds of deaths.
These visuals are a great social commentary on how modern times have shifted the landscape by touching on  death of nature by the industrialization, poisoning by drugs, the struggle of with weight and our image , and the death of youth.

Frida Kahlo at the AGO

The Art Gallery of Ontario has just announced that “Frida & Diego: Passion, Politics and Painting,” an exhibit of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera works, is coming to Toronto this fall. 75 pieces from the influential Mexican painters will be on display from October 20th, 2012 to January 20th, 2013 (are we really planning ahead to 2013 already????). Fitting then that Trendland just featured a piece on “Los Fridos,” a series by artist Kristiina Wilson that combines portraits by Frida Kahlo with real life models and photography. The results are stunning, haunting and more than a little bit disquieting. You can see the full post here, or scroll down for a selection of my favourite pieces below.
