Two Washington Spirit soccer players escape massive house fire
Tori Huster and Tiffany Weimer, as well as three members of their host family, safely fled the Maryland home last Thursday.

“Around 9 p.m. Thursday, Tori Huster went downstairs to watch “Scandal.” Tiffany Weimer was in her upstairs bedroom, watching old episodes of “30 Rock” on her laptop and breaking in a new pair of soccer shoes…”

I’m so glad everyone is safe. It’s a miracle that no one was hurt. The one positive that’s come out of this is the outpouring of support and donations. And I’m glad I could help support them from Canada.

Almost every NWSL player started with a dream to play at the highest level. The NWSL needs to survive so the next generation has a place to live out its dreams. That survival starts with the fans.

Watch a game. Talk about it. Write about it. Scream about it from the rooftops.

Women’s soccer is here. It’s been here. Let’s keep it here.
