Three useful apps that will give your Android an amazing facelift
Just gonna bother you real quick with this but this just barely what an Android phone is capable of with only 3 apps Going from this
To this! This is Textra, an app that lets you change your messaging system colors and… well that’s about it. I know it isn’t much, but this is the only little bit I could do with the sms messaging interface. But hey, beats looking at that old ugly ghksdjgsdf I don’t even want to look at it NEXT
Now I know it doesn’t look like much, but hear me out. Everyone has that struggle with their basic keyboard where no matter what their fingers just can’t hit the damn buttons. That’s where SwiftKey comes in to save the day. But wait it looks smaller than the other one? Yes, that’s right, more compact. The buttons are bigger but its pushed together for optimization. That, and it holds up to 3 languages (except Japanese… damn!) and its autocomplete is a hell of a lot better than the standard POS one on Android. Plus, this one comes with some nice skins… buutttt some also come with a price tag, bummer. Despite the few drawbacks, I’ve been using it for years and haven’t been disappointed in it at all. And last but not least…
This is what I’ve spent hours on today, literally. This was made possible by Themer, an amazing app that let’s you reconfigure your entire layout of your phone from your home screens to your menus. This gives you the chance to delve in and create unique home menu’s tailored to your style (I chose a magazine style here) instead of, well, bland widgets and over-sized icons. I’m not going to go on too much about it, but I will state that all the text on the right screenshot is put in there by me, and was not photoshopped in at all and is part of the actual menu! There’s almost no end to what you can do with this app and I can’t wait to practice with it some more :>
Special thanks to konnestra2 (I really love your art, I’m sorry it was represented poorly in this ;;w;; ) and きくよし for creating the original shiny umbreon painting (I only edited it a little) which can be found here
The inability of people to take responsibility for their own experience on this site. If you don’t like something? Don’t look at it. You cannot impose your wants and limits on other people.
Really shitty coding. I’ve spent too much time helping friends untangle ugly as fuck code for themes that self proclaimed ‘themers’ have created and put out.
The polarization of characters. Everyone is either Good or Evil; all the greys, the moral dilemmas, the questions, the complexity gets washed out far too often. Related: how some ‘villians’ are condemned while others are fawned over (I’m looking at people who hate Peter Pettigrew but adore Draco Malfoy or Severus Snape. Let alone the burgeoning re-obsession with Voldemort/Tom Riddle.)
