I’m hella stoked that The Flavr Blue released this new track. Lace Cadence, Parker Joe and Hollis form such a dope group and they have this incredible electro-dance sound that you can’t ignore. Get ‘Ghost’ for free here.
We’ve been waiting for The Flavr Blue’s latest video for “We Can Go Blind” to drop and the wait was so worth it. Directed by Jon Jon Augustavo (who’s no stranger to the Northwest), the visuals are stunning and ethereal and fits incredibly well with the track.
Pairs Well With…Made in Heights, Little Dragon, Empire of the Sun
The Flavr Blue’s 2013 EP Bright Vices is an evolutionary step for the Seattle electro-R&B trio, a dance-lounge record soulfully restrained in comparison to the pseudo-bangers of the band’s 2012 debut. The bass-drum ballad “We Can Go Blind” is a highlight – synthed out, new wave melodies hopscotch alongside Hollis Wong-Wear’s hooky, slithering vocals. This pattern continues on “Magnetic”, a track pulled together through bending, theremin-like tones. There’s inventiveness and space in The Flavr Blue’s music and the serious, mysterious mood of Bright Vices is the right place for their party vibe to mature to. Dancefloor victims get a turn too on Bright Vices with the closing duo of “Surrender” and “Alibi”. While the diversity of The Flavr’s Blue’s sound is commendable, specialness comes in the band’s darker moments. Here’s to more of that when it comes to whatever The Flavr Blue has planned next.
Sneak peak of the photo shoot I did with The Flavr Blue! You probably have not heard that name before, and if you have AWESOME! but if you haven’t, you will be hearing it A LOT really soon. STAY TUNED!
We are no stranger to artists who join forces to make dope music. The Flavr Blue consists of Hollis (Canary Sing), Parker Joe (State Of The Artist) and Lace Cadence. Their debut album ’Pisces' came out earlier this year with ’FxF’ as their first single. Don’t sleep on these guys. Download the album here.
