“The Flash” Season 2 finale will pit Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) against the villain Zoom (Teddy Sears, who is not pictured) in a climactic showdown. PHOTO: THE CW When Zoom (Teddy Sears) returned to Earth-1 and crashed the team’s celebration dinner, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) had to watch as the villain brutally murdered his father, Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp), in the same spot the hero had to watch his mother die when he was a child. With Barry more enraged by the principal bad guy of Season 2 than ever, the final showdown is about to commence. If you don’t believe it, the episode’s official short and sweet plot synopsis may convince you: “After Zoom reveals his true plan, Barry vows to do whatever it takes to stop him.”
Fortunately for fans of the series, the Season 2 finale’s teaser trailer offers a bit more information about what they can expect when the episode airs. A great deal of the latest episode focused on Barry exhibiting confidence in his team’s ability to stop Zoom. The villain attempted desperately to corrupt him, and the clip appears to show that he succeeded. Fueled by rage over what happened to his dad, Barry isn’t thinking clearly, and Harry (Tom Cavanagh) tries to convince him that if he doesn’t get his head on straight, he’ll lose to Zoom even in the event he has the superior speed.
Speaking of speed, Zoom approaches Barry not for fisticuffs but for a footrace. It’s unclear why the villain needs two speedsters running about the city or why Barry agrees, but it’s clear the audience will get to figure out which of the two actually is the fastest man alive.
Nerdy Fact #1552: Though Donald Glover’s character was written out of Community by explaining that he would be sailing around the world with actor LeVar Burton, a TV news ticker reveals their fate in the following episode: “LeVar Burton and non-celebrity companion captured by pirates in the Gulf of Mexico.”
