It’s Valentine’s Day in Magnolia High.
Philine – I never imagined that you’d become such an important existence in my life. When we met I was going through a stage where I shut everyone out. I didn’t want to make new friends – but you just stormed right in like you owned the place and got rid of those fears. Hahaha. You make me laugh on my bad days and you make me smile when I want to cry. It’s such an honour being your friend. You’re my sister, my best friend, my sunshine. I love you. <3
;The way you move is like a full on rainstorm and I’m a house of cards. You’re the kind of reckless that should send me runnin’ but I kinda know that I won’t get far.
He exuded confidence in every aspect of the word. Lucy couldn’t hope to ascertain how anyone could be so carefree, so fearless, so bold. But Natsu was all of those things and more. He watched her from the window ledge, tufts of pink hair crushed under the weight of the half-opened window above him. The stars shone behind him, a trail of glitter on a black canvas that only worked in his favour. He glowed in the moonlight.
“What are you doing here? If my father finds out–”
“Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day,” he interrupted. “I came to remind you.”
Lucy let out a laugh. “I know, Natsu. I haven’t forgotten.”
“Are you sure? I don’t smell any chocolate.”
“I’d be really, really impressed if you could smell the chocolate from the window. Now get in here before you fall and hurt yourself.”
Natsu dropped into the room with a quiet thump and made himself comfortable on the floor. Lucy knew better than to protest to his presence. He’d never listen. He rarely did. Not with lack of respect, but with lack of fear. A reckless boy had stolen her heart, after all.
“Where is it?” he asked.
“Natsu, I’m not giving you the chocolate. You’ll get it tomorrow, at school, like all the other boys.” To make her point, Lucy brushed off her school uniform and hung it from the handle of her wardrobe.
“But I want it now. I want my chocolate before Gray gets his.”
“Natsu,” Lucy placed a hand on her hip, “If I give you the chocolate now then you won’t have any tomorrow. If you don’t have chocolate tomorrow then Gray is going to win because he’s going to think you didn’t get any. Wouldn’t it make more sense for you to receive it in front of him?”
Natsu climbed off the floor at a pace that startled her. Lucy groaned when he crashed into her, his arms snaking around her as they fell to the floor.
“You’re so smart, Lucy!”
She let out a laugh. “And you’re too loud.”
In their new position Lucy could see every flicker of movement in Natsu’s eyes. She watched them smoulder as he leaned in to kiss her and watched them disappear as his eyelids fluttered to a close. She followed suit and let the warmth of their kiss wash through her. Her hands slipped around his neck to further indulge in the warmth of his mouth. His tongue tracing along her bottom lip should have been the first sign that things were heating up. But she ignored the gesture, ignored it until a hand drifted up the leg of her pyjama shorts.
“Natsu…” she breathed. “It’s late. You have to go.”
He trailed kisses across her cheek to her neck. Lucy had to press a hand over her lips to stifle the sounds building in her throat.
“In a second,” he whispered against her neck. “I’ll leave in a second. I promise.”
“Natsu, you really have to–”
“Lucy,” her father called from the stairs, “Is everything alright?”
“Y-yeah,” she yelled back, smacking Natsu’s head as he grazed his teeth over her shoulder. “I’m going to bed now. I’ll come down to say good night.”
The blood drained from Lucy’s face when she heard his footsteps begin to approach. Natsu climbed off her and rushed to the window where he perched himself to say goodbye. With one leg over the ledge he leaned in to press one last kiss to her lips before disappearing into the blackness. With a hand on her heart she pulled the window to a close and quickly dropped into the seat at her desk and nursed a pen between her fingers. When the door opened to reveal her father, Lucy cast one final glance at the window. The taste of Natsu’s kiss lingered like heat from a roaring fire.
I’ve always been so enamored by the lyrics in Sparks Fly. I mean the way Tay puts everything is so perfect: “The way you move is like a full on rainstorm and I’m a house of cards” … “Give me something that’ll haunt me when you’re not around” … It’s all so hopelessly romantic and passionate. I feel like the Speak Now album doesn’t get enough credit.
appreciation post for speak now because 18-20 year old taylor swift wrote it all on her own completely alone with no help
i was a flight risk with a fear of falling wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts
you made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
the way you move is like a full on rainstorm and i’m a house of cards
i’ll run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild, just keep on keeping your eyes on me it’s just wrong enough to make it feel right, and lead me up the staircase won’t you whisper soft and slow, i’m captivated by you baby like a fireworks show (TELL ME THAT DOESN’T MAKE YOU GRIN)
turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you (MY TAYLOR SQUARED HEART)
SOMEWHERE BACK INSIDE HER ROOM WEARING A GOWN SHAPED LIKE A PASTRY
long were the nights when my days once revolved around you, counting the footsteps praying the floor won’t fall through, again
you paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain, and i lived in your chess game but you changed the rules everyday
but i took your matches before fire could catch me so don’t look now, i’m shining like fireworks over your sad empty town (I GET GOOSEBUMPS EVERY TIME DAMN TAYLOR)
you with your voice like nails on a chalkboard calling me out when im wounded
but you held your pride like you should’ve held me
i’d tell you i miss you but i don’t know how, i’ve never heard silence quite this loud
this is looking like a contest of who can act like their care less, but i liked it better when you were on my side
walls of insincerity shifting eyes and vacancy vanished when i saw your face
she looks at life like it’s a party and she’s on the list, she looks at me like i’m a trend and she’s so over it, i think her ever present frown is a little troubling, she thinks i’m psycho cause i like to rhyme her name with things
but sophistication isn’t what you wear or who you know, or pushing people down to get you where you wanna go, oh they wouldn’t teach you that in prep school so its up to me, but no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity (THIS SONG IS SO PROBLEMATIC BUT SO SAVAGE)
lost your balance on a tightrope, lost your mind trying to get it back
time turns flames to embers, you’ll have new septembers
i do recall now the smell of the rain, fresh off the pavement i ran off the plane, that july 9th the beat of your heart, it jumps through your shirt i can still feel your arms (i’m not cryin g)
i do remember the swing in your step, life of the party you’re showing off again and i roll my eyes and then you pull me in, i’m not much for dancing but for you i did (i promise im not cryign)
so i’ll watch your life in pictures like i used to watch you sleep, and i feel you forget me like i used to feel you breathe (IM FINE)
you can plan for a change in the weather and time, but i never planned on you changing your mind (im SOBBING on the floor)
cause for a moment a band of thieves in ripped up jeans got to rule the world :’-))))
