Trump’s ‘Fight!’ Tweet Is Our Call to End Mexican Scapegoating

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump went on Twitter this morning to incite violence against Mexicans. “I love the Mexican people, but Mexico is not our friend. They’re killing us at the border and they’re killing us on jobs and trade. FIGHT!”, Trump tweeted.

Calling on his Twitter followers to “FIGHT!” Mexicans marks a new low for the belligerent Trump. In doing so, he uses the threat of violence in an attempt to quell criticism and, we feel, as retaliation in response to the backlash he’s received over his original anti-Mexican comments made almost two weeks ago in announcing his candidacy.

Such hate speech leads to violence and death, as we’ve seen one too many times in our community.

Shown above are:

Brisenia Flores, 9, shot and killed by Minute Men in their Arizona home in May 2009. Her father Raúl was also killed. Her mother was shot, but survived.

Juan Varela, shot and killed in May 2010 days after SB1070 was passed in Arizona by a neighbor who yelled, “You fucking Mexican, go back to Mexico!” Varela’s family has lived in Arizona since before 1848 when it was still a part of Mexico.

Luis Ramírez, beaten to death by 4 teenagers in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, in July 2008. “Tell your Mexican friends to get the fuck out of Shenandoah,” one of Ramírez’s assailants yelled at him before he was attacked.

10 anti-Mexican hate crimes were reported in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Staten Island, New York, in 2010. The victims were typically men on their way home from work. Almost all of the assailants were young black men.

Anti-Mexican hate speech can’t go unchallenged. The scapegoating of Mexicans ends today!

I think what is so utterly depressing is that none of the ambiguities that existed in the Ferguson case exist in the Staten Island case. And yet the outcome is exactly the same: no crime, no trial; all harm, no foul.

At least in the Ferguson case you had conflicting witness testimony; you had conflicting forensics. You had the spectre, at least, of police self-defense. But (in the Eric Garner case), there is none of that. The coroner called it a homicide. The guy’s not acting threatening and we know that not through witness testimony (of) unreliable bystanders, but because we are fucking watching it. Someone taped it.

A couple of days ago, the White House proposed more cameras on cop vests as a solution to this type of violence. I assume that the solution that they’re proposing, if implemented, would look something the Eric Garner case.

… We are definitely not living in a post-racial society, and I can imagine there are a lot of people imagining what kind of society we’re living in at all.

This clown had been haunting the people of Staten Island, NY, much like the Northhampton Clown did in England. He too resembles Pennywise from “It” and can be seen walking down the street, holding a bouquet of balloons and waving at petrified people.

It turned out that it was actually a publicity stunt by, Fuzz on the Lens Production, a film company from Staten Island. None-the-less, I would have pissed myself seeing this clown hiding behind trees…and waving at me.

Staten Island, NYC: We Demand Justice for Eric Garner!

Sunday, July 20 - 5pm

204 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301

Rally/Speak Out: Come out and stand in solidarity with the Garner family, friends and community to continue to create a voice that is loud and precise that it could not be ignored.

On July 17, 2014 Eric Garner was approach by plain clothes officers from the 120th precinct. In the video that was taken by Ramzey you could see that Eric Garner was upset because he was targeted by these plain clothes officers before. He begs the officers to leave him alone and one of the officers waited for the opportunity to sneak behind Gardner and jumped up and place Garner in an illegal chokehold and Gardner slowly fell down to the grown while the officer still had the chokehold on him, then the same officer released Garner and put his knee on Gardner neck while he was screaming that he could not breath. Police continue to stay on top of Garner until he became motionless and died.

Eric Garner was murdered by Daniel Pantaleo, a plain clothes officer that put Gardner in an illegal chokehold.

Police Patrol Guide: 203-11 states, “Members of the NYC Police Department will NOT use chokeholds”.

Brothers/Sisters in that community are tired of the abuse and they are tired of the police brutality they are facing in a daily basis.

On Dec. 22, 1994 Anthony Baez was put in a chokehold by NYPD officer Francis Livoti from the 46 precinct and it ended with the death of Anthony Baez. Bill Bratton was the NYPD commissioner and when he was confronted by the Baez family in a town hall meeting, Bratton called the Baez family a bunch of fools.

July 17, 2014 Eric Garner is put in an illegal chokehold by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo from the 120 Precinct and it ended with the death of Eric Garner. Bill Bratton is the NYPD commissioner and he said that people should not jump to conclusion until all the facts are out.

As the 13th anniversary of September 11th, 2001 approaches, remember the 2,753 people that were killed that day. The 343 Firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, the 37 PAPD officers, and the 30,000 responders that have been certified as having one or more 9/11-associated illness or injury; two-thirds of them have two or more illnesses, and about 2,800 have been diagnosed with cancer.

Okay Tumblr community… I really need every single person’s help with this!
