Is a common belief that Marilyn Monroe was plus size and overweight. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth… Marilyn’s weight fluctuate only significantly during 1956 to 1958 - because she had suffered two miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy during these years, Marilyn was not able to have child, sadly, she suffered with chronic endometriosis for all of her life, her professional contract even had her off work whilst on her period. You guys probably have seen a million times those famous photos taken in 1957 by Sam Shaw, on the beach, with that white bathing suit - and Marilyn was pregnant at the time, same thing in the film ‘Some Like It Hot’ - she was pregnant. Other thing that has intensified the ‘’Plus Sized’’ myth is the famous quote: “to all the girls that think you’re fat because you’re not a size 0, you’re the beautiful one, is society who’s ugly’’. There’s no remote possibility that Marilyn had said this quote - The size 0 term was not even invented when Marilyn was alive. At a 2011 auction the white dress she wore in ‘The Seven Year Itch’ was put on a mannequin that was a size 2, but they were still unable to zip up the dress as the mannequin was too big.
Yes, “the sizes changed during the years”, but her measurements proof that she wouldn’t be considered plus size by either modern or 50’s standards: Except the years of 1957 and 1958, Marilyn got thinner during the years: Information extracted from her documentation on 'Blue Book Modeling Agency’: Year: 1946 - 120 pounds US Military Card: Year: 1954 - 118 pounds In her final film 'Something’s Got To Give’ in 1962 her weight was documented: 117 pounds.
What i really wanted to say in this post is that you have to feel good with yourself without trying comparing your body with someone else’s to feel good, plus, every woman is a real woman, curves or not. You can be healthy being a size 2 and you can be a sick person in a size 12 or vice versa. Be yourself, love yourself!
