Mooncake experiments, “snowskin” variety.

Made a filling with stuff I had in the cupboard: chesnut cream, chestnut flour and roasted soybean flour. It’s practically identical to the traditional lotus paste. Happy dance!

The “snowskin” is coming along. First recipe(the easy one) was too good to be true, I basically ended up with pandan playdough(Not Good!). Think I’ll be able to salvage it to make mochi cakes later.

The 2nd recipe(the more involved one) is looking promising, it came out of the steaming as described, waiting on it to cool.

 le dessert #1red bean snowskin mooncake from Ma’s friend. Good thing there was only one; the skin was way too dry.

le dessert #2; mochi from Muji. Far from real or having any evidence of actual taste other than sugar, but hey, it’s from Muji, so it’s good.

le dessert #3; cornflake milk chocolate from Auntie. Too sweet!

I’m been saying this to everyone, so I’ll say it to you: Today was the due date of VisCom assignment, english essay draft, my maths test, science test, and holy moly biology test. Hence, the three desserts. Still standing.

My mum has an uncanny ability of knowing the foods I crave. The other day I was thinking how I haven’t had a cinnamon bun in awhile and when she got back from work, she brought back a loaf of cinnamon bread. Now that mooncake season is finally here, I’ve been dying to get my hands on one. I love snowskin mooncakes and I’ve only been waiting like a freaking year, no big.
