What a night! Thanks to Bob Ley, Sir Ian Darke, Tony Meola, Alexi Lalas (Football’s Tracy Chapman), Judah Friedlander, the American Outlaws, and the mighty Kyle Beckerman. Above all, it was amazing to revel in everything that is remarkable about American football history with so many #GFOPs who travelled from across the nation to be with us. As a great man once said, “Go! Go! USA!”
Anyone who listens to the pod, knows we have an unhealthy interest in learning about broadcaster’s preparation rituals.
Here are two photos that do just that head of today’s Scotland v Von Trapps showdown. This first photo was taken by Bob Ley. He is big on Manilla. Bob writes: “Even to anchor a single friendly with cut ins from four other matches, the preparations continue… 4-5 hours and still more to go.”
The second photo is an aerial shot of Sir Ian Darke crafting his charts. Yellow and green highlighter pens at the ready.
A historic oversight has been corrected thanks to GFOP’s. Ian Darke is now a notable citizen of Portsmouth according to Wikipedia, alongside the likes of Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (writer and goalkeeper).
