Brand New - Science Fiction

It’s everything I wanted and more.

My first listen was in total darkness, sat up in bed with my earphones on and no distractions.

This album is spooky as shit when you listen to it in the dead of night.

I’m currently on play through number four and to me it only gets better.

I hear influences from their entire back catalogue and early Bowie, Nirvana, Elliott Smith and even Simon & Garfunkel on this record!

At first listen the lyrics to ‘Desert’ concerned me but after multiple listens it’s very clear that it’s a story told not from Jesse’s perspective. Think deeper!

I personally love the sound bites, I feel it sets the scene for the album. Refused did it with The Shape of Punk to Come and its one of the reasons I love that album so much, it’s so avant garde.

I’m so glad I managed to score one of the very limited copies of the album on vinyl.
Now I just have to wait until October until it gets here.

It’s beautiful and I’m so glad it’s finally arrived. It’s been a long wait but it’s been worth it.

I hope it’s everything you all wanted too.

The Shape Of Hops To Come (Neshaminy Creek)

Brewery : Neshaminy Creek
Beer : The Shape Of Hops To Come
Style : Double IPA / Imperial IPA
Variance : None

9 / 10

Neshaminy Creek has knocked it out of the park with this one. They spit in their hands (not in the beer), adjusted their cups, kicked up some dirt, and straight Barry Bonds this brew. This shit is a downright delicious balanced out hop bomb unlike the kind that Iran has apparently been within “2 months” of completing for the past 3 years. I’m going to take a guess here and say that the shape of hops to come would sound a lot like the Refused album “The Shape Of Punk To Come” which is fucking amazing just like this brew. This starts with a heavy hop bitterness while intensifying more in the middle with a mix of the almost oniony and tropical hop flavors while slightly sweetening towards the end with all the flavors coming together for a great finish. Now I’ve read that people put this brew above Heady Topper and honestly it’s up there with the best double IPAs I’ve ever had, but I’d still put Heady above this. This is the best beer I’ve had from Neshaminy Creek and I really wish this beer was out all year round because the fact that it’s that hard to come across is a god damn tragedy. I feel like if the beer market was a pair of leather pants then this beer would be Lenny Kravitz’s pierced dong busting through the shelves making “big” waves and destroying almost all of it’s competition. This is a must drink for all the hop heads and hopophiles out there and pretty much a damn fine brew for just all beer lovers in general. Not the best entry point for newbies due to it’s heavier hop flavors and it’s 9.5% ABV but still something to look forward to.
