A Pool Of Blood

After my dive I got onboard the boat to hear there was a kill. The divers already on the boat saw a shark tussle slightly out of water followed by a splash and a pool of blood. 

Our guess was the shark didn’t want to play with the baby sea lion but wanted to eat it instead. 

On the ride back to Puerto Ayora we saw breaching mantas and all I could think about was the cute lil’ sea lion that wanted to play…

Oldest fossil sperm ever found left by Antarctic leeches

Scientists have accidentally discovered the oldest fossil animal sperm ever found.

The sperm cells appear to have been left behind by a pair of slimy, squirmy leeches at the edge of the world 50 million years ago. The pair of mating leeches lived on what is now Seymour Island in Antarctica during the Eocene, about 16 million years after dinosaurs went extinct.

That makes them quite a lot older…
