Arriving at the sight of the plane crash, 35 miles from the nearest town, was kind of a surreal experience. Apparently the crew inside the plane unexpectedly went down after colliding with one of the mountains. Calvin Campbell, a Sargent on the plane said, “We were descending toward Elmendorf at good speed, when we hit real hard with no warning. Everything went black…I mean real black. Then we hit again and it felt so cold. It felt like the wings tore off and when I crawled out, I saw that the fuselage was broken into two. We were on a snowy field—I didn’t know at the time it was a glacier. It was so quiet. .” After the impact Campbell radio’d for help and assisted the rest of the injured survivors by wrapping them up in parachutes and sleeping bags. The next morning the crew was rescued.

Walking around the sight we saw the cockpit completely detached from the rest of the plane, with wings, wheels and other parts in between. After exploring the plane inside and out we sat on top a big rock overlooking the crash. About that time the fog and rain started rolling in which made our ascent off the glacier and back up the mountain interesting as we couldn’t see more than 10 feet in front of us. Hiking through snow, boulders, and craggly cliffs, we made it back to camp, cooked up some chicken tetrazzini, and started our way back home.

Alaska has the largest amount of unexplored territory than any other State, which is part of what makes it so unique. There are over 3 million lakes, 14 mountain ranges, and 70% is not accessible by road. It makes you wonder what other sights you’ll see, and experiences you will have if you just go out and explore.

Cecilia Beaux is one of my new fave fine artists. Her style reminds me of John Singer Sargent so yeah. :3

Civil war moments

Okay so like there was a bunch of shit in civil war that broke everyone heart but the thing that got me time and time again is how Howard Stark recognised Bucky. Like back in the 40’S he met captain america the worlds greatest soilder or whatever and he met his freind too. I bet he remembered how upset and broken steve was after Bucky died. But here they are driving to go on vaction when the car crashes and someone is coming around the corrner…

“Sargent Barnes?”

He has talked about captain america on end for years and how forever and a half later here is his freind.
His freind? The one that died… the one that should be as old and gray as him right now? Yet he is the same looking as Barnes from all those years ago and he is grabbing him by the neck.

Last time Howard checked Barnes was a good guy, who fought for their side. He died in action, died a hero. But he’s back, hasn’t aged a day, with a metal arm and he’s killing me?

The whole
“Sargent Barnes” was nothing more that udder confusion. All this was racing through his head maybe even “is cap alive too?” And these are his last seconds of life.

Idk man it really got me
