Saratoga-Trunk

Saratoga Trunk. Edna Ferber. Garden City, New York: Doubleday, Doran and Co. 1941. First edition. Original dust jacket.

The novel concerns a notorious Creole woman, Clio Dulaine, who returns to her native New Orleans and marries a Texas gambler, Colonel Clint Maroon. Ferber’s picturesque romance of 1880’s New Orleans and Saratoga served as the basis for the 1945 black and white film directed by Sam Wood and starring Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman.
