Numbers You Need To Know For DCI Finals
  • .512 - The gap between the 1st place Blue Devils and 2nd place Vanguard
  • 8 - Number of times the 1st place corps at Prelims/Semis did not outright win at Finals (1972, 1974, 1978, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2008, & 2015), so around 18% of the time.
  • 1.4 - The largest margin jumped by a championship winner since the change from the tick system in the 80s, done by Phantom in 1996 when they went from 3rd to 1st.
  • .375 - The largest margin jumped by a corps that did not tie for 1st, again by Phantom, but in 2008.
  • 1.0 - The margin between BD and SCV at Semis in 1999. Vanguard of course closed the gap and tied the Devils on Finals night.
  • .5 - The gap between Cadets and Cavaliers in 2000, the last time there was a tie for the championship.
  • .15 - The difference between Crown and BD after Semis in 2015, the most recent example of a group making the leap.
