I'll be 17 soon and have been thinking about becoming a Catholic. I'm still doing a lot of research, but I finished reading the Bible earlier this week and I've never been so moved. I don't have any Catholic friends or know anyone that is (only Christian) and this isn't the first time I've thought about changing faith (born Shea Muslim and never practiced it, in all honestly I didn't (and don't) enjoy the religion I was born with)). What process does one have to go through to convert? I'm in UK

Congratulations! I’m really happy for you!

I love the Bible, too, and I love the Catholic Faith. The Catholic Church is the one that Jesus Christ started Himself and we are truly blessed that we can become members.

The process is called RCIA, which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. At the end of the year-long process (from fall to the Easter Vigil Mass), you will receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion).

You will most likely go through RCIA, but I am 17-year-old convert from a Protestant denomination and I had to do things a little differently. They placed me in first-year Confirmation instead of RCIA (so I was with teenagers from Catholic families in a two-year program). I think they did it because I had already been baptized, they wanted me to be with other teenagers, and I’m still technically a minor. I’m mentioning my experiences in case they change things for you, too.

Go to your local Catholic church and ask about RCIA. You can read more about RCIA here. Also, you can make friends in your new church :)

Again, congratulations and I’m so happy that you are thinking about becoming a Catholic Christian! God bless you! I’ll be praying for you.

Sacrilege Happened - Prayer Request

Just learnt all Consecrated Hosts were stolen recently in my hometown.

Please help me pray for reparation, conversion of those who did it and to possibly have The Lord back.

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly.
I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended.
By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

Among Christians, one marries to become a saint. To do so, it is necessary to enter into the plan of God. What a sublime ideal, but how demanding for the husband! He must unceasingly pursue the natural and supernatural good of his spouse, and that to the point of sacrificing himself, that is to say, his selfishness, his own spirit, and his own will. He has received graces in order to mold himself after Christ in His love for the Church. Christ gives the example, teaching, organizing, consulting, sustaining, and saving His Church.

As for the wife, she also has a marvelous vocation. She is the partner of her husband. God has instilled in her an influence of soul so powerful over the heart of a man in order to help him to realize his calling to be conformed to Christ, as well as the submission to realize together the common work of the sanctification of the children and familial harmony.

The fanfic ask! #s 2 and 4 for both Downfall and Sacrament (because I just caught up on that one and mmmmmmm, it is goooood).

yaaay!  I’m working on the next chapter of Sacrament now ♥  Just a couple more and the first plot arc will be over~

2. One secret the PoV character doesn’t know.

Hmm that would be Poe.  I’m trying to think, now that he knows the whole masquerade thing was Ben’s idea, what secrets doesn’t he know? lol.  Um I guess, he doesn’t know just how strong Ben’s magic is, and that the amethyst literally does form a link between them.  When If something happens to Poe, Ben is gonna would know it.  And Ben can do a lot more than just toss wolves around and make Poe’s headaches better.  But Luke is more powerful than Ben, and Poe doesn’t know that either. (Actually Poe doesn’t even know that Luke has any magical abilities, but he probably would have guessed considering the rest of the family does.)

4. What will things be like for the characters 1 year after the main events.

ahhh well how much can I tell without giving my plans away? :P  Um.  Well Phasma and Hux won’t be conquering any more kingdoms.  Rey and Finn will be in love.  (Well, Finn’s already pretty smitten, but it’ll be mutual by then lol.) Ben will not have murdered his father :P  I can’t really tell you anything else without spoiling it ;X;

2. One secret the PoV character doesn’t know.

Since both Poe and Ben are main characters… Ben doesn’t know what a huge conspiracy is going on around him with the Dark witches trying to get him to turn back to the Dark.  Because in this verse Anakin never became Vader (he and Padme are pretty old but still alive and happily married, living near Luke and Wedge [and Rey I guess, haven’t figured out where to put her lol]), the Dark never really gained the total control they had in canon.  And they want Kylo the way Palpatine wanted Vader, so they have no intention of just letting him quit, and they’ve been keeping an eye on him since he left the coven.  So they also know a lot more about Poe than even Ben suspects.  Which is not going to be very good for Poe.

Poe doesn’t know whether or not his father is still alive.  Kes is also a witch hunter (maybe even before Shara was killed, I’m not sure), and he’s been missing for quite a while now.  Poe still has some hope that he’s still alive but he fears the worst.  BUT Kes is still alive and eventually they will be reunited ♥  I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to writing that as a story, or figuring out what’s happened to Kes (I know a witch has him imprisoned or something, but I dunno who or where), but someday it’s all gonna be okay XD

4. What will things be like for the characters 1 year after the main events.

Again, I can’t say a lot without spoiling it.  But!  Hux will no longer be a cat! lol.  (I mean I guess that’s a spoiler, but obviously I can’t leave him like that.  I just won’t tell you how he’s cured :P)  Ben won’t have murdered Han here either.  Uh.  Argh I’m sorry I can’t really tell you anything else ;X;

Prayer Request

“There is no greater force against evil in the world than the love of a man and woman in marriage.”
- Cardinal Raymond Burke

I imagine the quote above is absolutely true, which is why I believe the devil so hates and wishes to destroy marriage. I was married 2 months ago, and in the time from the wedding night to now, the devil has been attacking us and our holy covenant. All of a sudden, we argue. We don’t talk. We don’t feel as close as we did just 2 short months ago. Of course we always talk it out and make up, but there are forces trying to drive us apart already. Please please pray that the devil will not prevail! I have no doubt he will be defeated with the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Mother, and all the angels and saints behind us. But we could still use your prayers! Perhaps it will end this battle in a quicker defeat against the devil. My husband is being baptized come Easter and we have been attending RCIA and mass together. He has recently become a lot more serious about his conversion and the faith, and everyone is overjoyed; we are both growing together in our faith after 7 long years, and I think that is part of the reason for this force of evil so vehemently attacking us. His baptism will transform our marriage from “valid” to “sacrament.” My husband will receive 4 sacraments at the Easter Vigil if you include our marriage. I believe this is the main reason for these attacks, because those are faith-strengthening sacraments and such blessings, but the devil wants to bring him and us back to a life of sin. Please pray for us, for our marriage, our faith, our chastity, and for my husband’s continuing strength in his conversion as he prepares for the sacraments. Please pray that he will continue to grow a strong and ever-deepening faith and that he will continue to grow as a leader–as a husband and hopefully, in the future, as a father; that he will lead a life of faith; that I will be able to be the wife he needs me to be and he will be able to be the husband I need him to be; that we will always seek God and learn His will for us; that our marriage will be blessed with God’s strength and resilience; that we will faithfully and enthusiastically live out our marriage vows and our vocations as husband and wife; and that we will continue to grow closer to each other in Christ! Pray also that all married couples and those seeking to marry will also be blessed in those ways. My husband’s name is Derrick and right now his favorite saint is St. Joseph.

Confession is therapy for your soul. Don’t ever think that you can’t confess a certain sin to a priest. God will and has already forgiven you.
I used to be so scared to confess certain sins to priests that I would leave them out. There came a time where one sin of mine that I was greatly ashamed of, came out MONTHS after I committed that sin. But people have to realize that the priest is taking the place of Christ in the confessional. Yes, you hear the priest and you may physically see the priest and vice versa, but he is acting as a vessel for Christ. You are going to bring your sins to Christ and will wipe your soul clean from all your sins that you’ve committed.
Do not be afraid of going to confession. The priest will not judge you, the priest will not say your name, and the priest is not gonna tell anyone else. Your sins are between you and God. God loves it when you go to confession because it brings you closer to Him.
The thing that I’ve learned is that Jesus wants us to console his Sacred Heart. The flames that brightly burn for us can burn our sins away! When you sin, RUN to the Sacred Heart! Run to Christ! That’s all he wants you to do. Just say you’re sorry and you will try your best, and actually try your best next time you get tempted, and let yourself burn within the Sacred Flames of his heart. Christ’s love for you is unending, unconditional, and pure.
So please, I encourage you to go to confession. Ask God for bravery and strength and if you feel anxious, ask God to drive that anxiety away because that will keep you from going and Satan knows that.
Confession is awesome.
