Promotional button for director Jim Jarmusch’s 1982 indie landmark Stranger Than Paradise. Filmed on grim rust-belt locations using short ends from Wim Wender’s road movie The State Of Things, Paradise codified the hipster credentials of costars John Lurie and Richard Edson and especially Jarmusch, who continues to make idiosyncratic, minimalist films, often in black and white.

One week after video of what might well turn out to be their last show went online, Consequence of Sound has turned up what is most likely the very first recording from Sonic Youth.  The untitled track (click here or try the embed below) was recorded at the June 1981 Noise Fest and features the extremely short lived lineup with keyboardist Anne DeMarinis, who quit after that show, and original drummer Richird Edson, who left early the next year shortly after recording their debut EP to pursue an acting career.
