Prophet Muhammad (SalAllahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) : deeply concerned for his community….
The compassion that the Prophet (SalAllahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) felt for his community was even greater than that which a mother feels for her child. It is said in the Qur’an:
Certainly an Apostle has come to you from among yourselves; grievous to him is your falling into distress, deeply concerned is he for you; to the believers (he is) compassionate. (Tawbah, 9/128).
The Prophet (SalAllahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) said countless prayers of mercy and compassion for his community. One day the Prophet (SalAllahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) wept while praying, “O Allah! Please save my community, show Your mercy to them!.” Allah Almighty asked the angel Gabriel (AS) to find out why the Messenger had wept. When Gabriel (AS) asked the Prophet (SalAllahu Alaihi Wa Aalihi Wassallam) about his tears, he said he had wept out of concern for his community. When Gabriel returned with this report, Allah Almighty said, “O Gabriel! Convey this good news to Muhammad: ‘We will make you happy, not sorry, about your people.” (Muslim, Iman 346).
