Esperanza Spalding, the virtuoso singing bassist and surprise Best New Artist at the 2011 Grammys, has founded a sort of club. Its mission is to investigate the many mysteries of the “pop song,” with jazz musicians, cheerful vocals and scare quotes. The result is Radio Music Society, out March 20.
Congratulations to Esperanza Spalding on winning 2 Grammy’s last night. Best instrumental arrangement accompanying vocals for her song “City of Roses,” and Best Vocal Jazz album for her latest album RADIO MUSIC SOCIETY. Well deserved. :)
