Gold is in the Details

There’s something about gold that instantly transforms what would otherwise be an ordinary fashion piece into something more- something more luxurious, something more extravagant. Gold is simply something that cannot be ignored. Because of this eye-catching trait however, it also becomes easy for gold-laden outfits to appear tasteless. So instead of looking like a solid gold brick dressed from head-to-toe in gold, style yourself with more sophistication and choose to showcase the gold in the details. With its high shine, gold looks even more appealing when set atop a black canvas. Masterfully dress yourself in gold; take inspiration from this black and gold ensemble:

Jil Sander Gold Stripe Brushed Felt Dress

Reed Krakoff Atlantique Bionic Mini Leather Tote

Saint Laurent Set of Four Gold-plated Rings

Gucci Gold-plated Leather Cuff

Givenchy Ankle Boots with Gold Metal Chain

When I started shooting years ago, I almost exclusively shot 35mm B&W film.  Since then I’ve done projects exclusively on B&W film as well.  Seeing as you can really go many directions with a digital file I thought I’d experiment with processing some images from last season in B&W to see what works and what doesn’t.  I’d like to incorporate more in my Fashion Week coverage starting next week.  The next few posts will be from that experiment.
