Alliaria petiolata

Garlic Mustard.  A non-native invasive species which ecologists have unsuccessfully tried to control with herbicide and physical labor.  I simply suggest people eat, and even market it, a tactics which ironically may be the plight of this areas wild leeks, shown in the background of the photo.

465: Purchase Boomerang

THis one is based off a sighting a friend of mine has experienced in Purchase, NY. Long story short, the end lights moved independently from the base.

If you have specific cryptid sightings or etc, I’d be willing to illustrate them to the best of my abilities!

“It is amazing, and I wish that I could spend the rest of the day clicking through it.” Andrew Russeth of ARTnews Magazine shares some of his favorite discoveries in our online collection.

Beethoven - Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111 - I. Maetoso - Allegro con brio ed appassionato

Performed by Jeremy Denk. Recorded in September 2011 by Adam Abeshouse at SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, Purchase, NY.

“It’s no accident that Op. 111 attracts literary attention. Though it’s music, it doesn’t quite behave like it. It seems to be charged with meaning, to communicate in symbols, ciphers, clues.” - Jeremy Denk

(on queerness, parents, abuse, surviving)

don’t know if my mom loves me anymore
She says that I am changing, I am not what she bargained for
I set fire to abusers like a war, I am a terror
but I don’t know what it is I fight for

I cure the pores of my skin I leave no room for anything
I survive because I have died

Just to keep my head afloat and my body unprovoked
I set up walls but make sure to include windows

And I cure the pores of my skin I leave no room for anything
I survive because I have died

And maybe in a year, I will learn to love the fear
And maybe in a year, I will not feel like a bad queer

Girl Cereal takes submissions!

Hey everyone!

Just a friendly reminder that I take submissions for my zine and love doing so! If you have any essays, poems, collages, drawings, etc that you want to contribute just send me a message and we’ll work something out. The content of my zine largely has to do with “the girl identity,” feminism and sex. These issues are looked at through an emotional/personal lens, not an academic one. If this sounds like your kind of thing, please consider sending your work my way.

More issues will be uploaded soon. Hope you’re all well. c:

-Ally

EDIT: Would especially be interested in submissions from the MRKH community. I know you girls have a lot to say.

György Ligeti - Piano Etudes: Book II - XIII. L'escalier du diable

Performed by Jeremy Denk. Recorded in September 2011 by Adam Abeshouse at SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, Purchase, NY.

“L'escalier was inspired, improbably, by a bicycle ride in Santa Monica, in which Ligeti found himself battling a ferocious storm. Steinitz refers to it as an "apocalyptic vortex,” and that seems like a sufficient description to me; it has that great Escher feeling of always ascending, never descending - a musical trick, a kind of thrilling illusion.“ - Jeremy Denk
