RIP Wes Craven (1939-2015)

Sad news of the passing of American film director, writer, producer, and actor, Wesley Earl “Wes” Craven (2nd August, 1939–30th August, 2015). Wes Craven will perhaps be best remembered for the creation of the A Nightmare on Elm Street film franchise, featuring the character Freddie Krueger.

Additionally, Wes Craven directed all four of the films in the Scream series (arguably a postmodern take on the slasher film genre), featuring the character of Ghostface. Amongst his other films are such titles as The Hills Have Eyes (1977), The Last House on the Left (1972), The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), The People Under the Stairs (1991), Vampire in Brooklyn (1995), Cursed (2005), Red Eye (2005), and My Soul to Take (2010).

RIP Wes Craven (1939-2015). Thank you for the pleasure you brought through your work, and especially for all the scares! You really did give us some powerful nightmares (and more than one sleepless night!). God bless.

Vancouver’s Sleepy Tom teams up with “who hasn’t he collaborated with” mega producer Diplo on wildly infectious new song Be Right There, which utilizes snippets from Jade’s 90′s hit Don’t Walk Away, powerfully covered by a songstress named Priscilla. Be Right There is a combination of classy 90′s R&B and soul with the slicing, metallic thrills of future house. It’ll be impossible not to bounce along with this buoyant dazzler, available from Mad Decent, here.

It’s obvious that other than Years & Years these days, the other most remixed artist is Gallant, and namely the Los Angeles based crooner’s spectacular single, Weight In Gold. I’ve already shared, like, four remixes of the tune that I found pretty sensational these past couple of months, but I’m going to have to follow that up with a fifth one. This time around, Weight In Gold gets a chopping, oscillating future trap remix by Brooklyn’s ever talented Sweater Beats, who calls the original one of the best tracks of the year. Sweater Beats couldn’t help but remix it, even adding his own guitar to its bursts of fiery intensity. The epic remix is a free download, here.

Out of all things this the one Im going to hell for because I’m dead ass wrong but its sooooooooo funny 😂😂😂😂😂 I can’t help myself. #kanyeforpresident #fruityloops #vmas #ableton #fallback #nochill #itunes #savage #producer #deeznuts #420 #nickiminaj #kanyewest #Sneakercon #jordans #donaldtrump #whatarethose #power1051 #livemixtapes #funnypics #rapper #brooklyn #presidentialelection #worldstarhiphop #alpha #beta #hiphop

Writer, director and producer Shonda Rhimes redefined Thursday night television with the dramatic, suspenseful tone of her four major ShondaLand series - Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder.

Beyond bringing in huge ratings for ABC, the shows have developed a significant social media following with fans live-tweeting, discussing plot points on Facebook and whipping up new GIFs to share on Tumblr within minutes after an episode has aired.

Hopefully, Rhimes will be able to repeat that success as the executive producer for the upcoming series The Catch, which stars The Killing’s Mirielle Enos as “a fraud investigator who is poised to be the victim of a fraud by her fiancé“.

Melanie Martinez’s dark electronic pop is an entrapping blend of the twisted macabre and the sugary sweet, a concoction that targets my very heart. There’s hardly a Melanie song I haven’t been able to resist so far, including Pity Party, which even samples Leslie Gore classic It’s My Party. Canada’s XVII takes that shadowy glamour and transforms the electronic pop song into a whopping future bass and trap track brimming with grandeur and majestic stateliness. It’s intensely theatrical, a remix worthy of a contemporary trap version of Phantom Of The Opera, fitting of mysterious masks, lavish costumes, and mystical sets.

Disarm You, featuring Ilsey, is one of several incredible tracks Kaskade has been revealing off his AUTOMATIC album, out next month. But guess who’s remixed the already magnificent tune and transformed it into the most majestic, cinematic, and moving experience, ever? Denver’s ILLENIUM, that’s who! And we all know what to expect when an ILLENIUM track comes our way… the most spectacular melodic dubstep, charged to the fullest with intense emotion. ILLENIUM’s remix of Disarm You tugs at every thread of every heart string. There’s nothing left to disarm after. Snag the track for free, here.
