The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the London premiere of “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” at the Odeon at Leicester Square. Before the screening the royal couple met with the film’s cast and crew, including Idris Elba and Naomi Harris and also talked with Mandela’s daughter Zindzi Mandela. Tragically, news of Mr. Mandela’s death broke during the screening. The Duke and Duchess were notified by a private secretary 15 minutes before the end of the film, and the Duchess was said to be “very moved.” She left the cinema in tears, according to the film’s executive producer Harvey Weinstein: “Kate was very emotional, she was in tears and very moved by the events. We all were. There is nothing to describe the momentousness of what happened. The Duke and Duchess handled themselves very elegantly. I spoke to them downstairs in the foyer after the movie. William was deeply touched by the news, you could see it in his face, but he was being very courageous.“ After briefly speaking to the cameras before leaving, the Duke of Cambridge released a statement: “Mr Mandela was the embodiment of courage and reconciliation. He was also a man of great humour and had a real zest for life. With his passing, there will be an immense void not only in his family’s lives, but also in those of all South Africans and the many others whose lives have been changed through his fight for peace, justice and freedom. The world has lost an inspired leader and a great man. My family and I are profoundly saddened and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

BREAKING NEWS. The royal baby has spoken its first words at the unprecedented age of less than one day old. Reports claim that the future king’s utterance, accompanied by a funky beat, went something like this:

“Now this is the story all about how
The royal succession got turned upside down
And I’d like to take a minute, let’s go back a smidge.
I’ll tell you how I became the Prince of a town called Cambridge.”
