This pride of madeira will be magnificent in a few weeks. So many flower buds. It is growing on one side of my yard partially beneath a eucalyptus tree, which provided protection from the frosts. Another pride of madeira growing on the opposite side of the yard is more in the open. Its flower buds got beat down by the cold winter temps, so its flower display will be far less spectacular.
It is difficult to capture the magnificence of this plant on camera. Like it’s cousin “Tower of Jewels” the flower spikes can sometimes be 8-10 feet tall. Two years ago this specimen was a tiny branch broken off a friends plant. Aren’t plants amazing?
