African American Slang: A Linguistic Description by Maciej Widawski

In this pioneering exploration of African American slang - a highly informal vocabulary and a significant aspect of African American English - Maciej Widawski explores patterns of form, meaning, theme and function, showing it to be a rule-governed, innovative and culturally revealing vernacular. Widawski’s comprehensive description is based on a large database of contextual citations from thousands of contemporary sources, including literature and the press, music, film and television.  [book link]

The so-called Islamic State is not what it claims to be. Like the Federal Reserve, which is neither federal nor has any reserves, the Islamic State is neither Islamic nor a state. It is a terrorist group that was created by US intelligence and Zionist-allied mercenaries, trained at CIA bases in Jordan, and unleashed on the people of Syria and Iraq to destabilize those countries in service to Israel.

White Supremacist says dead Press TV reporter fell victim to “CIA black op”

Press TV Reporter Serena Shim was killed in a car crash in Turkey on Sunday, October 19, 2014

Is the CIA behind the killing of Iran’s Press TV reporter Serena Shim. Rodney Martin, the chairperson of the American Nationalist Association, seems to believe evidence suggest the American reporter was the victim of a “CIA black op”. Serena Shim was reportedly killed in Turkey days after she claimed…

America today is the main sponsor of the Israeli regime and its decades-old crimes against humanity. These crimes are once again on display in the most despicable and barbaric way. American citizens therefore have a heavy responsibility to bear. They must decide which side they are on: that of genocide or human rights.

Sara Flounders: ‘US government greatest violator of human rights’

The U.S. government is the biggest “violator of human rights,” according to Sara Flounders, co-director of the International Action Center, an activist group dedicated to building grassroots coalitions to oppose U.S. wars and imperialist policies.

Both internationally and domestically, “the greatest violator of human rights in the world today is the U.S.,” Flounders said in a phone interview with the U.S. Desk on Tuesday.

“The Occupy Wall Street movement is the latest example of what has happened again and again to political movements in the U.S.,” she said

She cited “mass arrests, demonization in the media, criminalization of young people who are simply asserting their right to speak and to assemble” as some examples of human rights violations committed by the U.S. government.

The U.S. has yet to respond to two United Nations human rights envoys who formally requested that the U.S. government protect Occupy protesters against excessive force by law enforcement officials.

The rapporteurs’ letter to the State Department described how groups of peaceful Occupy protesters were forcibly removed from their encampments in various U.S. cities, including New York, Seattle, Denver and Oakland, Calif., last fall.

Flounders applauded the UN action adding that “it shows the people of the world still have a forum” to “expose the hypocrisy.”

Since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the US-led NATO military alliance has relentlessly encircled Russia, in complete defiance of binding agreements, such as the 1997 Founding Act between NATO and Russia.

The style in which journalists lie at say, the BBC or NBC needed the might of an Edward S. Herman or Noam Chomsky to decode. Their “Manufacturing Consent” exposed the complexity of how systematic and deliberate misinformation is carried on the airwaves. That changed in the run up to the wars on Yugoslavia, Iraq and Afghanistan – maybe because journalists read the book. Now, we need an update. Not content with super-structurally being averse to the truth, broadcast media on the entire continent of Europe is avowedly censoring television news networks.

The announcement first came from EUTELSAT, a French-based company that runs satellites which broadcast news over Europe as well as the Middle East, Africa, India and parts of Asia and the Americas. Without warning, the company informed Iran’s Press TV, the English-language 24-hour news channel, that it was not allowed to beam its TV shows to Europe. I should add that I once anchored for the channel and now make an independent production for them. (I’ll get to the ban being a precursor for media-management of another terrible war, later.)

Press TV rang a spokesperson at EUTELSAT who explained it wasn’t their fault: they said they had been told to ban the channel by the European Commission. And Press TV, wasn’t the only one – the continent that cradled the Enlightenment also thought eight more television channels were too dangerous for Descartes, Locke, and Voltaire to watch.

The six trillion dollars spent on Afghanistan-Iraq wars didn’t go to the war victims; it went back to the United States – into the vaults of its arms and ammunition industries and contractors; victims only got bombs, bullets and missiles, and shredded human bodies for burial.

John Kerry supports Al Qaeda in Syria, in violation of U.S. anti-terrorism laws by Michel Chossudovsky

June 5, 2013 - Press TV has conducted an interview with Michel Chossudovsky, director of the Centre for Research on Globalization, Montreal, about Western-supported terrorist death squads against Syria, Also addressed in this interview is Russia’s delivery of the S-300 missile defense system to Syria to help deter foreign military intervention.

Press TV: Why does Germany and the U.S. criticize Russia for sending arms to Syria while they themselves are providing weapons to Israel?

Chossudovsky: Well, it’s a nonsensical discourse of countries, which are in fact behind the terrorist organizations in Syria. They cannot on the one hand be peacemakers in terms of the proposed Geneva peace conference and at the same time support an insurrection channeling weapons to al-Qaeda affiliated forces. But there is another dimension. They accuse Russia of providing weapons to Syria for defensive purposes under a bilateral agreement between two countries. On the other hand we notice that the United States is channeling billions and billions of dollars to Israel. Germany is on record of providing German-made submarines, which are tooled with Israeli nuclear warheads. In other words, in providing military technology in support of nuclear weapons, this is in violation not only of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty, but also in violation of German and European laws.

Press TV: Why is it that only Israel’s security is so important and not the security of others in the region?

Chossudovsky: Well, this of course is an expression of double standards. Syria is not a threat to countries in the Middle East. But if we look at Israel and we look at its history, it has waged wars against several neighboring countries, including Lebanon, Syria and Egypt, in the course of recent history. And many of these operations have been in effect also been supported by U.S. military aid. Israel receives billions and billions and billions of dollars of U.S. military aid. And I should also mention that other countries in the region such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey are also recipients of U.S. military aid and much of this military aid is also being used to threaten Syria and to fund the insurrection, which is composed as we know of terrorist death squads.

Press TV: Despite the fact that the European Union has lifted an arms embargo on Syrian insurgents, how optimistic are you that the Geneva 2 talks will be able to resolve the Syrian crisis politically and not militarily?

Chossudovsky: The United States and its allies are not seeking a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis. If they were seeking a solution they would disengage in terms of their support to al-Nusra, which is a terrorist organization and its not only a violation of international law, but it’s also a violation of United States law, which classifies al-Nusra as a terrorist organization. And it is somewhat ironic that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is implementing a policy, which is in direct contradiction with the U.S. anti-terrorist legislation - in fact he is in violation of those criteria because he is brokering a relationship with a terrorist organization and channeling U.S. military aid to al-Qaeda.

War is extremely profitable for the International Banking Cartel (IBC), since not only do its members profit from financing arms sales to both sides during the conflicts that they themselves often initiate, but also from the post bellum reconstruction. In fact, the most powerful of the central banking institutions in the world, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), was established in 1930 to oversee reparation payments imposed upon Germany by the Treaty of Versailles that ended the First World War.

Please, stop using Press TV, everyone.

Here is one reason I never cite or read Press TV (which is a state ran new sites for the Islamic Republic of Iran):

Jewish power is obviously one answer, but, what is Jewish power? Can we ask this question without being accused of being Anti Semitic? Can we ever discuss its meaning and scrutinize its politics? Is Jewish Power a dark force, managed and maneuvered by some conspiratorial power? Is it something of which Jews themselves are shy? Quite the opposite - Jewish power, in most cases, is celebrated right in front of our eyes. As we know, AIPAC is far from being quiet about its agenda, its practices or its achievements. AIPAC, CFI in the UK and CRIF in France are operating in the most open manner and often openly brag about their success.

Furthermore, we are by now accustomed to watch our democratically elected leaders shamelessly queuing to kneel before their pay-masters. Neocons certainly didn’t seem to feel the need to hide their close Zionist affiliations. Abe Foxman’s Anti Defamation League (ADL) works openly towards the Judification of the Western discourse, chasing and harassing anyone who dares voice any kind of criticism of Israel or even of Jewish choseness. And of course, the same applies to the media, banking and Hollywood. We know about the many powerful Jews who are not in the slightest bit shy about their bond with Israel and their commitment to Israeli security, the Zionist ideology, the primacy of Jewish suffering, Israeli expansionism and even outright Jewish exceptionalism.

But, as ubiquitous as they are, AIPAC, CFI, ADL, Bernie Madoff, ‘liberator’ Bernard Henri Levy, war-advocate David Aaronovitch, free market prophet Milton Friedman, Steven Spielberg, Haim Saban, Lord Levy and many other Zionist enthusiasts and Hasbara advocates are not necessarily the core or the driving force behind Jewish Power, but are merely symptoms. Jewish power is actually far more sophisticated than simply a list of Jewish lobbies or individuals performing highly developed manipulative skills. Jewish power is the unique capacity to stop us from discussing or even contemplating Jewish power. It is the capacity to determine the boundaries of the political discourse and criticism in particular.

States ran news, regardless of its origins, should rarely be trusted compared to an independent new source.  The blending of criticisms of Israel with antisemitism is why as news source cannot be trusted with any measure of seriousness.

There is a difference between criticism of Israel’s domestic and foreign policies to using the old blood libel slurs and conspiracies about “Jewish Power..”  The former is based on concern over rights and liberties of Israelis and Palestinians, and the latter is just racist pandering to most base human beings among us.

Al Jazeera is a legitimate news website, it may not be perfect, but I hardly see such racist garbage in their news cycles.

‘US lawmakers forced to support

Israel’ - Cynthia McKinney on PressTV

Former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney says every candidate for Congress has to sign a pledge to vote for supporting the military superiority of Israel.

“Every candidate for Congress at that time had a pledge. They were given a pledge to sign … that had Jerusalem as the capital city,” McKinney said in an interview with Press TV on Sunday.

“You make a commitment that you would vote to support the military superiority of Israel that the economic assistant that Israel wants that you would vote to provide that,” she added.

McKinney said that if a candidate does not sign the pledge or perform accordingly, “then you do not get money to run your campaign.”

The former Congresswoman said that after she made the pledge issue public “the tactic changed.”

“But this is what is done for 535 members of the United States Congress, 100 senators and 435 members of the House of Representatives have to now write a paragraph which basically says the same thing.”

He comments came as US President Barack Obama vowed to sustain Israel’s military superiority over its neighbors at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) annual gathering on Sunday.

“We (the US) will maintain Israel’s qualitative military edge”… “We have increased military financing to record levels,” Obama said.
