Plant of the Day
Saturday 11 October 2014

A magnificent Quercus robur (common oak, English oak, black oak, French oak, pedunculate oak, Polish oak, Slavonian oak) at the entrance to the Beth Chatto Garden, Essex. This wonderful tree has been pollarded in the past causing this branch structure to develop long before this garden existed. As one student said to me ‘think of all the changes and seasons this tree has experienced’.
