At the Zoo - Chapter 5

The road’s been quite bumpy for Peeta in this story, right ?

Maybe it’s time for a bit of healing ….

My endless gratitude goes to my dear friends for their help in this rather heavy story… No rainbows and unicorns in this one, right ?

To @xerxia31 – you are a precious gift. Your friendship means a lot to me – and you know it:)

to @dandelion-sunset – without your help at these difficult moments, (the ones I wanted to delete), this story wouldn’t be there.

To @akai-echo – your art is just so so so … beautiful – that doesn’t even start to describe it !

There will be one more chapter and an epilogue after this one:) Hope you’ll stay till the end:)

As usual, reviews, comments are welcome

Peeta woke up to the sound of voices, muffled by some distance, or walls, or both, he couldn’t really say. His head was hurting, his muscles were sore. Opening his eyes, he was blinded by the light.

He sat up, looking around him. Last he remembered, he had been outside of a diner, having an episode in front of all the crew from the zoo, and he could tell the place he was now was far from being the pavement of a street. It looked more like the living room of a house or an apartment, if he could trust the comfortable couch he was sitting on.

He could still hear the voices, more clearly even, as if their owners were fighting. Standing up, he assured both his legs were steady enough to walk, before making his way towards where the sounds were coming from, only to find Gale and Katniss.

I have finished Elaborate Lives!

I’m going to start posting the rest of the chapters over the next couple weeks (maybe less because I’m so excited to get the rest of it to you and hear your thoughts). There are three more chapters and an epilogue.

But until then, how about a Six Sentence Sunday?

Katniss was warm. She’d never really been comfortable sleeping so close to someone, but it was different with Peeta. She felt the warmth all the way to her bones.

Peeta’s phone started going off and he groaned. “I’ve never wanted to stay in bed more.”

She lifted her head off his chest as grappled for his phone. “Want me to make some breakfast?”

He grinned and kissed her forehead. “If you want. It’s really early for you, though.”

She sat up and stretched, the blanket pooling around her waist. She was very much aware of his gaze falling down to her exposed skin. “I don’t mind.” She rolled out of the bed and found her clothes. “I get up this early when I go hunting.”

“I’ll take a quick shower.” Peeta wrapped his arms around Katniss’s waist. “I have to be at the bakery by four-thirty.”

“I’ll see what I can throw together.” She pressed a soft kiss to his lips. “I hope you got enough rest.”

“I’ve worked on less sleep.” He gave her a sexy smirk and then turned to the bathroom.

I laughed so hard when I read it

Someday I’ll explain it to you, why they came, why they won’t ever go away. But I’ll tell you how I survive it. I make a list in my head, of all the good things I’ve seen someone do. Every little thing I can remember. It’s like a game. I do it over and over. Gets a little tedious after all these years, but… there are much worse games to play.

Good night,” I whisper to the bow in my hand and feel it go still. I raise my left arm and twist my neck down to rip off the pill on my sleeve. Instead my teeth sink into flesh. I yank my head back in confusion to find myself looking into Peeta’s eyes, only now they hold my gaze. Blood runs from the teeth marks on the hand he clamped over my nightlock. “Let me go!” I snarl at him, trying to wrest my arm from his grasp.

I can’t,” he says.
