Paula-Scher-MAPS

I have started looking into handmade type for the National Trust brief because it is a style I plan on using for my final outcome. Here are some examples of Paula Scher’s maps, a series of giant paintings independently hand painted over the last decade.

“I began painting maps to invent my own complicated narrative about the way I see and feel about the world. I wanted to list what I know about the world from memory, from impressions, from media, and from general information overload. These are paintings of distortions”

The characteristic hand painted type is what drew me to these pieces, how is flows weaving  in and out gives a very natural feel.
