A few of the lovely photos posted by the Danish Royal Court today in memory of Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, the late husband of Princess Benedikte of Denmark.

HRH Prince Richard Casimir Karl August Robert Konstantin, 6th Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was born on October 29th, 1934 in Giessen, Germany. He married Princess Benedikte of Denmark on February 3rd, 1968 at Fredensborg Palace Church. They were married for 49 years and lived primarily at the Castle of Berleburg. Together they had three children - Gustav, 7th Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (b. 1969); Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (b. 1970); and Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (b. 1975). The couple also had four grandchildren together.

Richard passed away suddenly on March 13th, 2017 at Berleburg Castle. His funeral is scheduled for March 21st, 2017 in Bad Berleburg, Germany and the Danish Royal Family, amongst other royals, are slated to attend.

I wanted to create the ‘cel over painted background’ look. It’s simple, but I had lot of fun finding out the color palette!

By the way, from now, I will make this blog nintendo fanart related, since this is what I draw the most naturally. I’ll just delete old, unrelated posts that doesn’t seem consistent with this theme.

Queen Maxima, King Willem Alexander and Princess Beatrix attend the funeral of Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, the late husband of Princess Benedikte of Denmark, at the Evangelische Stadtkirche on March 21st, 2017 in Bad Berleburg, Germany.

Prince Richard was close friends with Princess Beatrix’s late husband, Prince Claus. Princess Beatrix met her future husband (for the second time) at the wedding of Richard’s sister, Princess Tatiana in the summer of 1964. When Prince Claus was dating Beatrix, Prince Richard helped to deceive the press and “acted” as Beatrix’s love interest. Beatrix married Claus two years later in 1966.
