Office-Force

A female Muslim student was called a “fucking terrorist” by her classmate. Then, she was suspended.

  • The Council of American Islamic Relations’ Minnesota Chapter is calling on law enforcement authorities to investigate an Apple Valley High School security guard and police officer for allegedly using excessive force on a female Muslim student after she faced Islamophobic harassment.
  • The Muslim civil rights group said a male classmate taunted the student, who wears the hijab, and called her “a fucking terrorist."
  • According to CAIR-MN, the student’s hijab was removed from her hair when the police officer exerted excessive force. She was later taken out of school and sent to her parents.
  • After the incident, school administrators met with the Muslim student and her family on Friday before suspending her for the rest of the school year, Twin Cities Pioneer Press reported.
  • CAIR-MN said following the altercation between the police officer and the student, the advocacy group received about a dozen complaints from Apple Valley High Muslim students who felt unsafe and concerned about the police officer. Read more (6/6/17)

This head canon applies to both Korrasami and Supercorp. Being genius innovators running huge companies can mean it's hard to get them away from work. Having a strong gf means they are literally be picked up and carried out of the office to force them to stop working when it starts to get late

Summary: Five snapshots of Jughead’s and Betty’s life when Jughead had nowhere to stay and Betty was hiding him in her room.

Read on AO3

(Okay, I know this is long; I know. But seriously I can’t help the fact that I want to fill entire books with how adorably cute those two are! <3 So grab your snacks and drinks and dive in hahaha! Also I’m sorry if there are any typos, it’s really late and I’m way tired to notice my mistakes. I hope you all like it guys!!!)

Two days had passed since the night Betty Cooper had stormed inside the Blue & Gold office like a wild force of nature, catching Jughead on the act as well as learning about his secret of not having a place of his own anymore, and coexisting under the same roof was going smoothly for the two friends. Every morning they would wake up way earlier than most people in their town, and especially than Betty’s parents, and Jughead, although not being a morning person, would sneak out with a grateful smile plastered on his lips and hands full with every new snack Betty seemed to always prepare for him, and every night she would sneak him back in once she knew her parents were retired to their bedroom for the night. Their system seemed to be flawless.

Today was a low-key Wednesday night and the first time they had the house entirely to themselves, since the Coopers had yet another late night at the newspaper, the two teens finally enjoying some peace and quiet without closed doors and hush whispers. Betty was sprawled over the bed, text books and colorful markers all around her as the blonde girl was trying to finish her homework, elbow holding herself up and chin resting on her palm, head aching over an answer sheet and calves crossing and uncrossing behind her. Jughead was over the window with blinds shut – he had made Betty promise that his secret would stay between them – sitting comfortably on her white desk chair and having his long legs crossed at the ankles, outstretched against the wooden window frame, while typing furiously on his laptop that rested on his lap. Since no one was at home he didn’t have to lurk at his usual booth at Pop’s. Plus, he found Betty’s presence a very good remedy for writer’s block.

That’s because it’s a false comparison. “Blaming all Muslims for the actions of a few” is exactly what’s happening, but “blaming all police officers for the actions of a few” is not.

No matter how much Muslims speak out against the dangerous extremists, they’re still blamed as a whole for the actions of a few.

Meanwhile, if a few police officers murdered people, and the good police officers showed sympathy for the victims and did everything they could to punish the bad police officers, the police would not be blamed as a whole. But that’s not what happens.

When a police officer kills someone, the response from the pro-police crowd is not to defend the majority of police officers by insisting that they’re nothing like the ones who kill, but to actually defend the ones who kill. The police and their supporters make excuses to justify the use of lethal force, and any police officer who tries to stop them or hold them accountable is retaliated against. It’s not uncommon for a police officer who uses excessive force to keep their job as a police officer.

  • What I say: I'm fine
  • What I mean: The undercover officer or Naomi forced Justin to pay her for the weed he got for her, making it a sale. She forced him to sell her weed so she could arrest him and meet a quota. She's doing her job, but she's not doing it right. Isn't it a good thing if you can't find a dealer in a school? Why was it necessary to frame Justin, he got it for her. He doesn't normally hang around with the stoners, so he shouldn't have been arrested. She was a c u n t. And yes, he made a bad decision but she shouldn't have told him to get her weed.

The best thing about Char Aznable is how his red motif came to be, both in-universe and outside of it.

In-universe, a certain higher ranked officer in the Zeon forces, in charge of supply, hated Char’s guts. See, the material Zaku IIs are made of, super-hard steel alloy, is naturally pinkish-red in color. The green Zaku IIs we all are so familiar with are actually painted to look that way. This supply commander that disliked Char, when he learned that one of the Zaku IIs he was sending out was going to Char, ordered for it to be left unpainted, as an insult to Char. Thus, he received the red rust-pink rust Zaku II, different from all the other neatly painted Zaku IIs. Char, as he does, took this in stride, and simply began getting a LOT of results in combat, earning his title as an Ace Pilot and, such was his combat effectiveness, that he was soon assigned one of the approximately 100 Zaku II Commander Types produced during the One Year War. As is the case with Ace Pilots, he was offered the option to have a custom color scheme, and Char naturally picked rust red, both because he was already making a reputation for himself as the Red Comet, and because he wanted to rub salt on the supply commander’s wounded pride some more. So Char basically became the Red Comet because he was handed a shabby ass unpainted Zaku II and he rolled with it like a champ.

Out-of-universe? The animators had a TON of spare pink paint.

Now that I’m thinking about the disparity between Sam and rhodey’s opinions….

Rhodey is extremely well-educated and it’s backed up by more than one piece of evidence. Not only did he go to MIT and get his degree, but he actually made it into the air force officer ranks, AND he’s high-ranking. (Also that thick-ass threat analysis, I have not forgotten that)

He’s been the stark industries liaison officer for years, which means he’s extremely competent at his job and the military is nervous about having him train someone else and moving him out of that slot. (This can be partially attributed to his friendship with tony, but not completely. If he didn’t get shit done, they wouldn’t keep him there.)

To be frank, I know a lot of airmen who would kill for a superior that competent.

Which begs the question: why is sam so quick to disagree with him in cacw and write off his opinion?

Is it because he’s grating under that itch to revert to military customs and curtesies after so long in the civilian world? Did he have an exceptionally bad commander or made a whole succession of bad commanders who made him write off officers as a whole? Is it because rhodey is tony’s friend, and sam doesn’t like tony or thinks he’s only agreeing with tony out of loyalty instead of a good grasp of the terrain?

Or did something happen before cacw, when cap and widow were assembling their new team? Was there friction between cap and rhodes due to cap being the leader and rhodey being higher-ranking with a lot more modern-world experience? Did rhodey take wanda to task at some point and cap didn’t like that and sam stuck to steve’s side loyally?

Left wingers: WTF DID THEY REALLY JUST SAY ‘UNDER GOD’ IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE??? WTF WTF WTF THIS IS NOT OKAY

Right Wingers: if i stop masturbating long enough i can put people in political office through sheer force of will.

The CEO

Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since I last posted anything. I’ve been working on the story for several weeks, but I wouldn’t finish it without my dear petal, @little-black-dress-24. It all happened thanks to your idea, your patience with me constantly tormenting you to read this stuff. So, huge thank you, E. And E, I’m really sorry for my dramatic, aesthetic, perfectionist ass. Luv yeh. xx

I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Feel free to comment, share or at least like, if you fancy my work.

Harry is a lawyer and he is faced with the challenge of cooperating with his new boss. The boss turns out to be a beautiful woman.
Word count: 9,500-ish

You were sitting in a comfortable armchair with a cappuccino in a white coffee cup, right in front of you on a coffee table. You took a deeper breath from time to time to relax your tense body. You weren’t scared but you were nervous, in a good way. Finally, you achieved one of your career goals. You applied for your dream job in one of the best prospering law companies in the UK. You were determined to achieve your goal and so it happened. You were the first and the youngest woman to become a CEO in the company.

It was your first day and you were waiting for one of the Board Members to officially introduce you to the team. Your head was full of ideas on how to expand and develop the company. You were very excited about the job to a point where you couldn’t sleep at night because you were so full of energy and excitement for the new things to come.

You looked at a golden chain watch on your wrist and realised you should have been called inside about 10 minutes ago. You were tapping your fingers on your knees in excitement when you heard a man shouting in the office you were about to enter in the next couple of minutes.

‘You promised me this job and you lied to me, John! You know very well that it’s me who should have been given this job, I worked my ass off and I deserve it!’ you heard.

Hearing this, you felt an uncomfortable cramp in your stomach and a wide smile disappeared from your face immediately. Is someone getting fired because you got this job? That certainly wasn’t a good start, you thought. Several seconds later, the door to the office opened with force and a man stormed out from the inside. He was tall, very lean, dressed in a tailor-made navy-blue suit, white shirt and a black tie. His face was furious; eyebrows frowned, lips pursed in anger. When he noticed you sitting next to the door, his eyes lingered on you for several seconds as he was walking by, like he was examining you, wondering who you might be. Then he laughed sarcastically, spitting a silent ‘Obviously…’ under his nose. He disappeared behind the door and you were called in by Mr. Stevens as it was your turn to meet in his office.

Drip Drop [REQUESTED]
  • Pairing: Jerome Valeska x Reader
  • Prompt: [ANON] gothammm can u do a oneshot where reader is jims v close niece or sth who has social anxiety and phobia of blood and then jim drags her into gcpd office where she forces her to be a cop (like in training?) and then unfortunately for her, jerome and the gang comes for a shooting and then she just hides smwr like undr the table and jerome sees and finds it cute but shes pale af cuz of all the blood and she cant say or do anything cuz of fear and social anxiety?

YAYYYY! My first request from being in tumblr for 4(?) days!!! I got this request from a person [Which that person wants to stay anonymous] and it was interesting to write! It took me awhile since I have to study on how to get in a Police Department for this one and some test required. I tweaked some minor stuff, hope you don’t mind! Also, before you say that Jim couldn’t have any niece because he doesn’t have a sibling (In my information, still haven’t watched Gotham fully.) this is an AU where either your mother or father is Gordon’s sibling. Also this is a female reader insert, I couldn’t do both genders in one go since I’m really strict to grammar even though my grammar isn’ really that great. Anyways hope you guys like it, and you too anon who requested this!

You went in to you and your Uncle Jim’s shared apartment, you could hear him cooking something as the aroma of the food hits through the air. You dropped yourself on the couch and wailed like a kicked puppy.

“Oh, (Y/N). Finally find a job?” you could hear some utensils where set.

“No luck Uncle Jim…”

You were Jim Gordon’s niece. Since your parents died from a homicide when you were still a wee child. Jim was the only relative accepted you and took you in. After him helping you throughout the incident, you both became a close duo. Now that you were in a legal age and haven’t entered to any college since you and your uncle couldn’t afford for it you decided to help the household by applying on an occupation. So far, all the interviews were a disappointment.

“Could you set the table?” Jim requested as you groaned but rose and carried on what the elder told you to do.

The both of you consumed the dish in peace for a while then Jim decided to break the silence.

“I could get you in at the GCPD as a police though since we are in need after the Maniax incident,” he lifted an eyebrow at you while chewing the food inside his mouth. You thought about it, it could raise your cash earning, yes. Plus, you do have an athletic history and could fire a gun, which Jim educated you for self-defense. But the major obstacle is that you were scared of blood, in other words you have hemophobia. That’s the con, but you were mentally humiliated being puppied by your uncle. You want to assist the household too, but this decision could cause you to be terrified to death. No, I could do this. You thought to yourself, this would make me stronger.

“I’m up for it,” you said returning eye contact.

Jim knew about this phobia of yours, he doubt that you would accept it but he was surprised that you acknowledged it. “Are you sure? There would be a bloody incident now and then, I know you want to help but you don’t know what will happen in every second or minute.”

I’m sure of it.” He sighed then bowed his head a little to respect your choice.

“Well then I’ll prepare everything else, also you need to prepare about the LEE examination for it and at least have 70% above to pass. So, good luck kiddo.” He smiled at her then they proceeded to eat in silence. On that night you searched a lot of information for the test to raise your chances on passing.

The next day you and Jim were driving to the station, “My niece would like to apply.” He then advanced and gave your citizenship card and driver license, your high school diploma also to be checked by the woman on the counter. You were pretty apprehensive at this, having negative speculation every now and then. What if I did pass then saw blood throughout the job? I don’t even know if I would be able to pass this, I hope they like me… That’s some of the few anticipation that you have been deliberating to yourself.

It was going fine until several gunshots were heard; the worst thing is that it was “NEARBY”. The windows shattered and you squeaked in surprise and horror, some police were shot, which made your eyes expand.

Blood, all over.

You started to hyperventilate; your body was shaking fiercely. Your uncle led you to the other side of the counter and made you hide under the table at one corner. It was a good hiding place but you doubt it will last. He ordered to stay there and gave you a pocketknife to defend yourself. “I’ll be back, think of your happy place (Y/N)…” he was on pins and needles that you will lose consciousness and with your pale figure; it was obvious you weren’t fine. He grasped both of your hands and you focused on him, still shaking and sobbing. “Do what I told you (Y/N)—“

Close your eyes, and think about positive things.”

He said hugging you; your six-year-old figure struck by a jolt at the sight of the cadaver of your parents in the kitchen. The floor was tainted in red and their eyes are dull. Police and medics can be heard rushing outside. Uncle Jim always told to you to do that when you sighted blood, and it always seemed to work. You trusted him that much.

“I’ll get you out of this, I promise.”

You urged your head to nod which worked and he smiled and ruffled your hair before sneakily went out of sight to see what’s happening. The girl that your uncle talked to you a few minutes ago was there laying nearby, now a carcass. There’s another police you can see near at your hiding place lifeless too. You felt light headed at this point. It was horrifyingly catastrophic.

And when you heard a happy whistling tune and footsteps, you hugged yourself firmly. Clutching the knife that your uncle gave you, you closed your eyes and did what your uncle told you. Think of happy thoughts, and trust him even though your heart was pounding by the trigger of your phobia and also fearing for you life.

The MANIAX was back after estimated two weeks and were up for some show, the group of mentally ill people decided to welcome one of the most entertaining yet foolish department of all time. Gotham City Police Department. Requested by the leader of the group, the one and only Jerome Valeska.

Jerome was whistling and slightly skipping while glancing anywhere if there are any alive preys still in sight for him to satisfy his hunger. While he walked he heard a whimper, he walked towards where he heard it and saw a girl hiding under a table. She was obviously scared; Jerome couldn’t help but think it was adorable. He started to near her, gun in hand in case the girl didn’t afford the entertainment he needed. When he was in front of her, kneels down. He noticed a knife in her fist.

Boo!” he giggled. The girl suddenly by instinct stabbed him on his upper arm which was took him in shock. He noticed the girl got more scared, he didn’t knew if it was him or something else.

S-sorry!” she gasped. “I, I… Scare! . Bl-Bl-Blood!”

Not, not…. Kill, I pl-pl-please!”

He looks at her, as if she was a precious baby to be saved, not bothering the pain he felt on his shoulder. The blood flowed and the girl whimpered at the sight of it and at the sight of the well-known psychopath. This made him smile at how adorable she was, he thought. He liked her instantly. Maybe he should keep her alive and play with her for a little while. It would be interesting enough for him; besides if she gets boring he could kill her instantly. But something about her that made Jerome uneasy, a feeling or an emotion he couldn’t put into which he just shrugged off.

“Don’t worry doll,” he said and puts a hand behind her head and pushed her onto his chest and cradled her. “Now close your eyes, drop the knife and put your hands around me.” You still cried but managed to do what he said and embraced him even though she could feel the phobia rush in as she felt the sticky blood touching her arm. But she didn’t bother it, she was a facing a killer and she was exhausted. That’s a downside. She felt her world being dim and darker in every blink. Her breath seemingly slowed down. Before she could pass out, she could hear the psychopath’s comforting voice once again.

“Now, now doll. I’ll protect you for now on.”

Roadtrip

Request:Can you write a Bucky x reader, where reader has bought a new car and they decide to take a road trip with Steve and Sam, but a cop pulls them over and asks her some questions like ‘is this your car?’ assuming it was stolen, then asks Bucky and Steve if they’re safe and demands to check her car. It’s just basically a messy situation. @mazuru7

After years of saving and responsible decisions you finally had enough money to afford your dream car. The car you’d been drooling over since high school.  You went to the dealership with Steve and Bucky because it was common knowledge that dealerships try to pull less shit if you have a man with you. You weren’t taking any shit so you brought two men who beat people up for a living. Bucky put an arm over your shoulder as you waited for the guy to come back with paperwork and keys. You looked up at him absolutely giddy with anticipation for your new car. He smiled down at you; he knew how much this meant to you and he was proud you were finally getting the car your heart desired.

“This is it doll,” Bucky spoke.

“I know,” you grinned up at him, “We should go on a road trip this weekend and really see what this baby can do.”

“You really want to put a bunch of miles on your new car?” Steve questioned.

“Steve, your old guy is showing. Why buy a car if not to put miles on it? It’s not the miles it’s the driver, and I am gonna take good care of my baby.”

That weekend you loaded snacks into the backseat for a trip down to Virginia Beach. Bucky loaded up everything else, he had refused to do more than one trip so he was carrying an ungodly amount of bags.

“Well look at you Hercules,” you teased as he put things in the back of the car.

“ Are you sure you want to drive?” he asked, ignoring your teasing.

“Yes I’m sure, Bucky. You’re just itching to get behind the wheel and I ain’t gon’ let you.”

“Is that right?” he leaned down closer to you, getting in your face as if to really scrutinize your expression and decide if you meant what you said. However, as he got closer his gaze kept dropping down to your lips.

“That is right, Sergeant Barnes. You’re never ever gonna drive my baby. I love this car more than I love anything in this world.”

“You are such a brat,” he laughed, pulling you close to him by your waist and pressing his lips to yours. Reflexively, your hands went up to cradle his face, his stubble scratching the palm of your hand.

“Hey are you guys gonna suck face the entire trip?” Sam asked. Bucky’s grip on your waist tightened as he turned the both of you quickly and dipped you, continuing to kiss you passionately. You were smiling into the kiss, used to his antics to spite Sam. He was smiling too and as he broke the kiss he looked down at you with his usual gaze of love and admiration before pulling you back up.

“Alright love birds if you want to get to Virginia anytime soon we should be heading out,” Steve chided throwing the last bag in the car. You smile hurrying to the driver’s seat ready to start the journey. Bucky sat beside you  as a navigator, Steve and Sam were in the back. Steve was in charge of snacks while Sam had music. The three bickered back and forth often asking you to weigh in on their quarrels.

“But your dear boyfriend put nair in my shampoo!” Sam yelled.

“Oh my god, and he’s still alive?!” you exclaimed laughing.

“He did it before he left for a mission,” Sam explained.

“Well you couldn’t have been that upset, you didn’t do anything about it.”

“Yes he did,” Bucky interjected.

“Icy Hot in his underwear,” Sam responded triumphantly.

“Oh my god is that why you refused to have sex with me that one day?” you asked. Bucky only nodded. You glanced in the rearview mirror at Sam who looked more than satisfied with himself. Steve on the other hand looked like a tired mother of two at her wits end.

“Is this what you deal with at work?” you asked him.

“Oh that and much more,”Steve sighed.

“I feel for you, Cap.” you turned your attention back to the ever-stretching highway while the men in your car continued to bicker about past pranks. You were an hour out from the beach when the police car behind you turned on its siren. You glanced down at the speedometer to see if you were speeding. You were not and there were no traffic laws broken, so that left you to wonder what the hell was going. You turned on your hazard lights and went over to the shoulder lane.

“Grab my insurance papers out of the glove box would you?” you asked Bucky, your voice dropped to a forced calm. He grabbed the papers while you pulled your wallet out of the arm rest and got your license. You had both easily accessible when the police officer walked up to your window.

“Good afternoon, officer,” you greeted forcing a smile on your face.

“Afternoon. Can I see your license and registration?”

You handed them over immediately. He scrutinized your papers then your face as if he expected the papers to be fraudulent.

“Do you know how fast you were going?”

“Yes I do, sir,” you nodded. He hummed glaring at you, you stared back with a deceptively friendly gaze.

“Would you get out of the car?” he asked.

“Why is she getting out of the car?” Bucky demanded, putting a hand on your wrist to stop you from getting out.

“There’s a search out for a car exactly like this. So I’m gonna say it again, Miss. Please step out of the car.”

You did as he said and stood out side of your car.

“Is this your vehicle ma’am?”

“Yes, sir, it is.”

He looked past you to the men in your car, “Are you guys okay?” he asked.

“We’re fine. I’d like my girlfriend to get back in the car, and for us to continue our drive.”

“I’m sorry I can’t do that. I’m gonna run her license number, be sure she is who she says she is,” he cut a side eye to you. You watched Bucky’s hand clench in a fist and he looked about ready to blow. You thought for sure he was going to get out of the car and make the situation even worse. In your worry for Bucky you’d stopped paying attention to the officer. He grabbed your arm and yanked you around to look at him.

“I will put you in jail, do you hear me?” he growled at you, and you wondered what part of the one sided conversation you had missed. Three doors seemed to open in the car simultaneously.

“Get your hands off of her!” Bucky yelled, and Sam put a hand on Bucky’s chest to keep him from doing something stupid. Unfortunately he couldn’t stop Steve who broke the officer’s grip on you.

“What’s your badge number, officer?” Steve spit out glaring at the man.

“Steve,”you warned. The officer pushed Steve back.

“There’s an APB out for this car model. No way she bought this car so which one of you does this belong to?”

“It’s hers!” Steve yelled back, surging forward to attack but you wedged yourself in between them.

“Hey, man,” Sam called out, “Everything’s good here just let us go,” Sam was preoccupied holding Bucky back. You looked back at the police officer hoping by some miracle he wouldn’t be too preoccupied by the color of you and Sam’s skin to listen. The officer glared at all of you and it occurred to you that these were superheroes.

“Steve, show him your Avenger’s ID,” you requested straining your neck to look up at him. He grabbed his wallet from his pocket and pulled the ID out. It was enough to make the officer begrudgingly walk away and get back in his car, not without throwing your license at you carelessly. You caught Steve again keeping him from attacking the officer. After the cop car drove away you let out breath out that you hadn’t been aware you were holding. You also let go of Steve and got back in the car. Everyone followed suit after a while and you continued the journey to the beach. There was silence for a long time in the car, you glanced over at Bucky. You could feel the anger radiating off of him as he silently seethed. You reached over and gave his knee a pat.

“It’s alright, Buck,” you murmured.

“It’s not alright,” he snapped.

“You’re right. But it wasn’t worth a fight.”

“Yes it was.”

“Are you gonna fight every time someone is an asshole to me?”

“Ideally,” he nodded. You laughed a little at that shaking your head.

“I’m sending a complaint,” Steve announced as he looked down at his phone, “I got his license plate number.”

You scoffed, “Come on we’re gonna have a great time at the beach. Don’t let one asshole ruin the mood.”

“What if we weren’t with you?” Bucky demanded.

“Well I’m glad you were,” you settled.

“But what if?” he insisted.

You sighed, dropping your happy bravado, “Who knows? At best, I’d be in jail, at worst I’d be…,” you paused letting the thought trail off, “ but I don’t want to think about that, kay? I already know what this life is like for me, I don’t need to live in fear too. Let’s just be grateful I wasn’t alone and that I had the best of the Avengers to look out for me.”

Bucky took a deep breath trying to quell his anger. You took his hand and rubbed soothing circles on the back of it with your thumb. There was another moment of silence but this time it was much more comfortable.

“You dumbasses were gonna fight a cop on the side of the highway,” Sam laughed breaking the silence and coaxing a rueful laugh from the rest of you. Soon enough most of the tension had passed, but Bucky kept you close the entire time you were at the beach. It occurred to you that he had really been scared for you, so you didn’t say anything. You just let him hold you.

The Pocket Knife (Thomas x Madison x Burr x Reader)

Words: 2000+

Warnings: None

Request: Hi there! Could I please request a Poly Burrxmadisonxjeffersonxreader involving anything with a pocket knife?

A/N: sorry i took so long, like usual. been feeling unmotivated lately. but here you go! <3

You looked at the pocket knife in Burr’s hand, eyeing him suspiciously. He winked at you, twirling it around with his fingers. You were leaning on Madison’s arm, you head resting on his shoulder. He played with your fingers, not paying any mind to you and Burr.

“Why the hell are you spinning that pocket knife around? You’re going to poke your eye out,” Thomas said, moving away from his boyfriend. Burr looked up at Thomas, grinning.

“I have an idea.”

Odette Hallowes (1912-1995) was an investigation officer for the Allied forces during World War II. She worked with the French Resistance during the Nazi occupation, and was subject to terrible torture and treatment by the Gestapo for her activities.

She survived the war, and became the only woman to both receive the George Cross and be appointed a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur. In 1955, she co-founded the Women of the Year Lunch, a charitable event in honour of women achievers that still goes on today.
