Can you guys imagine if Ralph walked in on Felix and Cal intimately canoodling in the penthouse and tried to warn Gene, who was going up there?

Ralph: Don’t go up there, Gene. Felix is…uh…busy.

Gene: I just need to ask him something.

Ralph: Gene, I’m serious. He’s not in a position to talk―I MEAN, he can’t really talk right now.

Gene: *HUFF* Don’t be ridiculous, Ralph. I’m sure Felix can―

Ralph: JUST DON’T GO UP THERE GENE OKAY

(Doing these on days I don’t work long shifts, because that makes sense to me.)

2: Least favorite character?

Now, let me be clear: I do not hate Gene. I don’t even dislike him! Gene is actually kind of funny in a horrible sort of way, and he is a great foil to both Ralph and Felix. And I am, in fact, very curious about his life after the movie.

Here’s why: Gene does not seem to be particularly afraid of Ralph. He openly and fearlessly provokes him - even going so far as to keep poking after Ralph has a spot of temper! Yet Gene clearly isn’t stupid. He simply knows Ralph is basically harmless, so he does it because he knows he can get away with it.

(That’s actually one of the things that makes him interesting; it’s surprisingly realistic bullying behavior. Quite a few of us have probably been the victim of a Gene; it’s why a few of his lines make me slightly uneasy.)

Yet Ralph really seems to be Gene’s only target. He’s pretty polite and friendly to the few other people we see him interact with. So we can pretty much guess that Gene is a very particular person who sees Ralph as a threat to the very particular life he has for himself. So, how is he going to behave now that his life can more or less go on as he likes it with Ralph as an accepted part of the game? Will he relax, or just find a new target? Will the never-my-fault part of his personality (as seen in the penthouse key scene) prevent him from acknowledging the part he had in making Ralph miserable and provoking him to leave the game, or will he acknowledge and own up to his mistakes?

It’s fun to speculate about - which is one of the things that makes this movie so much fun to begin with.
