I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So that’s my wish for you…and my wish for myself… Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect… Make your mistakes, next year and forever.
I found this note inside this book that I randomly came across and have been wanting to read while I was exploring this awesome library in the city.
First, this note is so touching and is such a good & wise message to just randomly find in a book (I don’t know if this has anything to do with the book though, but still appreciate the message). Second, the library has 4 levels and incredible scenery of the city! And there are plenty of study spaces, so I think I’m going to spend some more time there studying. 😄
Can we start over? It’s been a long time since you showed yourself love.
When was the last time you saw yourself the way other people do?
People see a lot more good than they see bad.
It’s only you who tells yourself that there’s more to be improved.
When was the last time you told yourself that you did something that should be awarded and not replay it, trying to find ways to improve it?
I want to try again. And we’re going to be good enough for us and telling ourselves it’s okay to do so.
Have you ever given yourself credit?
Let’s start now
once upon a time I was young and full of life and I made this post telling an anon the guidelines for submitting a quote while on mobile, which essentially boiled down to
“don’t send in nsfw, don’t send in anything offensive, and don’t send me the entire shrek 3 script”
I said these things like a fool, because I thought I could get away with making a joke instead of asking the anon not to send in overly long quotes like a reasonable, more seasoned mod would have. at the time I was still soft and new to this quote blog life and had no idea the chaos my simple goof would bring
not an hour later, tumblr user @raindigo sent me the ENTIRE shrek 3 script and I proclaimed her my lifelong nemesis (all in good fun, mind you), hoping we could all laugh and that would be that
it did not end there
I received many, MANY more messages about shrek and began to tag them with #the shrektacle (shrek + spectacle) so uninterested parties could block it to their hearts’ content. this event was so memorable (similar to furisiting) that every once in a while I get messages like the one you saw today from people who either A) want to revive the shrektacle, or B) just happen to associate me with shrek and feel the urge to share their shrek-related stories
