Black Sabbath - Neon Knights

“Neon Knights” by Black Sabbath

Top Metal Albums of the 80′s - #52

Circles and rings, dragons and kings
Weaving a charm and a spell
Blessed by the night, holy and bright
Called by the toll of the bell

The first song on the album, it begins a frenetic and heavy pace of the rest of the album. It also gives us our first experience with Ronnie James Dio singing with the band. And of course, not only were Dio’s vocals a perfect fit for the band, so were his lyrics.

“Neon Knights” by Anthrax (Black Sabbath cover)

Circles and rings, dragons and kings
Weaving a charm and a spell
Blessed by the night, holy and bright
Called by the toll of the bell

Anthrax can always be counted on for a good cover, especially of Black Sabbath. Stay tuned for another one. And while we’er at it, can we acknowledge the perfect marriage between Dio’s lyrics and Sabbath’s overall themes?

Neon Knights by Black Sabbath? Are you kidding me? The licks, the vocals; this song’s got it all. I was like, the coolest kid ever walking home to it on my 5th generation ipod video, back in middle school.

Oh metal, where art thou? I sort of, well, you know, miss you.

Just look at that album artwork. It’s so badass.

sigh. all this indie music’s made me all…softyboy?

I think i need more of you inside me.

that sounds gross but you get the point.
