The shooter seemed to have been tortured by an ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) weapon. ‘Not what yall say’? I think he’s talking about the commands of his 'handlers’ and wants to rebel against them. 'End the torment’, there’s a lot behind this story that the media isn’t telling us. If his weapon was an AR-15 this would still be main story in the news.

Unless you know us personally, the men and women who work and live here are considered faceless, pointless bureaucrats. They pay taxes and do not have a vote in Congress. Our work and our city is held up as a symbol of everything wrong with politics, government, media. Tourists from Real America come here and ask us for directions on Metro or to snap a photo of their family in front of a landmark and then they go home and talk about how terrible “Washington” is. Nice to meet you, too.

A New York Times writer just sold a lot of books by reducing us to a catchphrase: This Town. That he opened the book by making fun of a man’s funeral here spoke volumes, and foreshadowed the non-reaction to what happened yesterday.

When 12 people are massacred in Washington, it’s not people dying in Real America. The rest of the nation does not stand “D.C. Strong.” Profile pictures do not become ribbons. Phones do not ring off the hook, just to be sure we’re doing OK. After Hurricane Katrina, everyone who ever sucked down a drink on Bourbon Street claimed the Big Easy as their home. Likewise, after the marathon bombing in Boston.

When 12 people are massacred in This Town, our nation shrugs collectively and offers justifications for its apathy that all translate to: “There’s a viable reason we don’t care too much.”

Brunch Bird: This Town

So, so, so, so, so true. She hit the nail on the head.

One of the first teams of heavily armed police to respond to Monday’s shooting in Washington DC was ordered to stand down by superiors, the BBC can reveal.

A tactical response team of the Capitol Police, a force that guards the US Capitol complex, was told to leave the scene by a supervisor instead of aiding municipal officers.

Marine and Navy CO defended themselves in Chattanooga. The right questions to ask..
It’s been reported that the Navy Reserve support center's commanding officer Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White and one of the Marines killed in the Islamic terrorist’s rampage in Chattanooga engaged the terrorist with their personnel handguns. Their courage and personal initiative are to be commended and will be talked about at length in the coming days but this new development is very interesting on a number of levels that many will miss.
Heavily Armed Tactical Team Ordered to Stand Down During Navy Yard Shooting

“Multiple sources are telling the BBC that a tactical response team ready to respond to Monday’s deadly shooting in Washington, D.C. was ordered to stand down by superiors.”

“Its a very serious allegation and inference to indicate that we were on scene and could have helped and were told to leave…it crushes me if that’s the case,” Senate Sergeant-at Arms Terry Gainer said.”

Jonathan Ferrell, police violence and inevitable media hype of Navy Shooting

Dominique, you are right to feel that these are staged because there is a lot of phoniness around. The shootings themselves, I think, have other contributing factors and are “real” in some sense–although I’m open to being proven wrong–but assuming they are real, the media hyper focus and razzle-dazzle ovaries-to-the-wall type of coverage selection on mass shootings is a product of a certain capitalist staginess, orchestration, kinda conspiracy/market reality. On Saturday that young black man Jonathan Ferrell, 24, who crashed his car went to find help and a woman called 911 on him and the cop who showed up just straight up shot that young man instead of helping him. Now that happens all the time, but the media again gonna cover the stupid-ass mass shooting for the next 6 months and in that time dozens of primarily young people of color will be shot dead in a hundred different shootings that most people will never even hear about–and a shocking number of those will be people killed by cops. Mass shootings is hardly anyone’s personal reality. Being shot down in your neighborhood, shot by your spouse, or shot by a cop–those are the real realities of violence in this country that the mass shooting hysteria helps us neglect and forget or just be completely unaware of. These mass shootings as stories matter, they are certainly newsworthy. We should be figuring out ways to treat the social ills that encourage their flaring up, we should be deconstructing male socialization as violent creatures and charting a new course, but instead the news points us to overhyping mass shootings as the face of gun violence in America. It’s just yellow journalism and ignoring the real stories of gun violence in America is worse–that’s a political assault that helps obscure the realities of hurting communities oppressed under capitalism in decline. So fuck the news for pimping the stories of mass shootings–and probably contributing to the encouragement of mass shootings. And fuck the news for usually being piss-poor watch dogs of the cops and having a piss-poor analysis of law enforcement and the state.
