Guys, my country, Peru, is going through a difficult time right now. I haven’t seen much in international media so that’s why I’m sharing this with you. My city, Trujillo, along with many other cities is Peru are suffering from El Niño phenomenon. From Lima in the center all the way to Ecuador are been hit by heavy rain… Many cities are flooded… We’ve had three mudslides in my city today. The images from other areas are way worse. People has died drowned and in accidents trying to get home.. farmers have lost everything, people has no water and electricity in many areas even the capital Lima has little to no water. I’ve seen some embassies here helping otherwise I haven’t seen much coverage of this even though it has been happening for days now. Peruvians are working together to get through this and I’m sure we will come out stronger from this. Keep us in your prayers.

Nearly 500 bodies recovered from devastating Sierra Leone mudslide

Rescue workers have unearthed 499 dead bodies since last week’s devastating landslide near the Sierra Leone capital Freetown, the city’s chief coroner told Reuters on Sunday.

One of Africa’s worst flooding-related disasters in years occurred when the side of Mount Sugar Loaf collapsed on Monday after heavy rain, burying parts of Regent town and overwhelming relief efforts in one of the world’s poorest countries.

Authorities this week buried 461 bodies in quickly-dug graves in the nearby Waterloo cemetery, near the site of a mass burial for victims of the Ebola crisis that killed 4,000 people in the former British colony between 2014 and 2016.

Thirty-eight more bodies were found on Sunday, said chief coroner Seneh Dumbuya, bringing the official death toll to 499. They were being sent for immediate burial, he said.

The Red Cross said on Friday that over 600 are still missing.

An increasingly desperate search continued on Sunday on the steep hillside under the wet red mud, as the likelihood of finding survivors was all but extinguished. (Reuters)

  • we still don’t have water (i live in an apartment building and we have a water tank, but many people don’t have ANY water at home)
  • classes at schools in lima (the capital city) have been suspended again - they resume on wednesday
  • my uni has postponed classes: i was supposed to start tomorrow but they will start on the 27th
  • right now, a jail is on fire
  • many bridges have fallen and cities at the north of the country are now completely inaccesible
  • probably the rains and mudslides won’t stop for at least a month

also: i’m temporarily closing my studyblr. from now on i’m only going to share info about the situation here in peru. i know i don’t have a lot of followers and many of you have been ignoring this (which makes me feel really sad and dissapointed at the studyblr community) but it doesn’t feel right to go on like nothing is happening. if you want to contact me and ask me how can you help, i’ll be happy to tell you all i know.

the signs’ anger as natural phenomenons

ARIES: lightening (a sudden destructive release; often well aimed and with few survivors)

TAURUS: volcanic eruption (with a build-up so slow the outburst is rarely expected, though they give lots of warnings; the destruction is vast and they can remain upset or hold a grudge for a long time after)

GEMINI: tornado (very messy and loud, they will verbally throw everything at you in the hopes that something hits where it hurts the most; could be harmless except when it’s not)

CANCER: tsunami (it’s usually very personal, they want you to feel exactly what you made them feel; they want you to drown in that feeling)

LEO: wildfire (one of the worst tempers, they take a lot and it’s usually one seemingly small thing that sparks it, from then on its loud and obliterates everyone in its path and doesn’t end until they’re good and satisfied or plain exhausted; no apologies)

VIRGO: earthquake (they’ve most likely been holding this in for ages just under the surface, hot and densely suppressed; it seems to happen without warning, the façade of control cracks, they release some of their most shattering critiques and observations; no one is exactly the same after)

LIBRA: hail storm (anger is usually communicated clearly, if not coldly and with a bit of passive-aggressive derision; they probably discussed it with themselves whether this anger is deserving or not, if it’s been deemed justified your verdict is final and penance is delivered without respite)

SCORPIO: maelstorm (this is definitely a palpable experience for everyone involved; they will hold back at first, more from fear of themselves than of you; the break can happen as suddenly as an aries, it is consuming and frightening for both of you, the depth of their contempt, even if exposed just a little, causing either of you back off least you fall in and never return; they usually regret not being the bigger person after)

SAGITTARIUS: solar flare (like scorpio, they are aware of the power of their temper which is why they seem to distance themselves or ‘run away’ when upset; if they can’t laugh it off, the flare is sudden and strong for them, throwing everything, like gemini but with grotesquely precise aim; then it’s over like nothing even happened)

CAPRICORN: avalanche/mudslide (their anger is like a higher power, even while they are feeling it they are still trying to distance themselves from it so that it becomes its own force with its own will, course and end; and the end is usually them never acknowledging your existence again. ever.)

AQUARIUS: thunder storm (slow to anger, when it happens all their positive traits are flipped, friendliness becomes cold, imagination becomes cunning, cool cleverness turns to a harsh downpour of criticism and ugly truths; they will make you doubt whether their brighter side ever really existed)

PISCES: geyser (for one fleeting moment they are so completely besides themselves it’s frightening for everyone involved; their deep, emotionally intelligent nature is flushed away in a destructive and scary display they didn’t even know they were capable of, rushing out of a deep chasm of turmoil they probably didn’t know was there)

Guys, we have mudslides again.. 3rd day in a row… It finally got to my house… We’re trying to do everything we can to prevent the water getting into our homes. It’s stronger this time because it’s mudslide + rain at the same time. I live in the lower part of the city so here it arrives with less power so you can now imagine how the people in the higher parts next to the river are doing. Some people can’t escape they’re stuck in their second or third floors. Sad week for us.

So just to catch up with what’s been happening.

My heart goes out to the people of Colombia in the wake of Friday night’s mudslide in Mocoa, which has left 250 dead, 400 injured, and at least 100 unaccounted for. Reading the stories of people swept away from loved ones, unsure if they are dead or alive, is almost unbearable. But as with every tragedy, there are inspiring stories of courage, sacrifice, and hope radiating from within the disaster zone. Be brave and carry on. The world sees you Mocoa, we stand with you and send our love. Te acompaño en este momento de duelo.

Before STRQ

Okay, so this is why I ended up not posting until right now I’M SORRY.

I present to you, my version of Qrow and Raven’s parents! Their story is unchanging, between MRAU, Head canon, and Happily Ever After AU.

A synopsis of Kite Branwen

Kite Branwen (based on the fable ‘Kaa’nang’)- “Illegitimate” (considered by his step-mother), bastard son of the Oceanic Tribe’s Chief, Eule (Owl in German) Branwen, Kite was not a conception of love between his parents. Mother being a POW of their tribe, she left him in the care of his father as soon as she was pardoned, around two years since his birth.

Kite grows up in the distant observation and something akin to care and protection of his father, while a commander of his, named Tawny, takes Kite in as her own and raises him despite harassment from the chiefess and fellow tribesmen and women. Finding out his semblance of Foresight, he is often used by his father to predict danger and attacks.

Despite step-mom Sienna’s best efforts to stunt him, Kite develops into a strong, highly skilled fighter (thanks to his father and mother) who can remain calm and stable on and off the battle field. He is a natural born leader, more-so than her own, “legitimate” children. Once he was offered the title of ‘General’, Sienna finally got her way and was able to take his title from him by enticing Kite’s then, now ex-boyfriend, Merlin. Taking Kite’s title without shame or guilt, Merlin immediately cuts Kite down in front of the entire tribe and also severs their relationship.

Betrayed and abandoned one too many times, Kite’s trust in others breaks. He constructs a wall of disdain and aloof disinterest around him and isolates himself from everyone in his Tribe. In an act of desperation and desire for peace in his life, he builds himself a small home at the edge of stable earth and near the shore; solitude and the ocean being his only friends.

His solitary life ends, however, when a trio of young women stumble upon their tribe and beg for help.

A synopsis of Cerise Demet

Cerise Demet (based on Ceres/Demeter) - A young woman who is running from a dangerous group of people and a situation she refuses to be in, Cerise, along with sister’s Heather and Olivia, stumble through a waterfall to find a long, winding cave behind it. Following the path, the three find themselves trespassing into an Oceanic tribe of shape-shifters, Faunus, and hunter’s.

Captured and taken before Chief Eule, he and Chiefess Sienna decide what to do with them. Offering their services, Cerise’s semblance enabling her to grow, destroy, and move plants at her will, and contribution to the tribe in exchange for hiding, the chief agrees.

Tawny offers her home and care to the girls, who are much appreciative. Cerise spots a small house near the shore, and asks Tawny who resides in such a tiny, secluded home. Without missing a beat, the older soldier replies with one phrase. “My troubled son.”

Interest peaked and curiosity getting the better of her, Cerise makes the decision to sneak out later that week and meet this mysterious ‘son’ of Tawny’s.

I might do a mini series on AO3 about Cerise and Kite, revealing her past and how the two of them got together, them being together, and whatever follows. I’m going to be including them in the Happily Ever After AU and doing sketches of the two of them on here.

If you have any questions about them (just them for right now. We can get into their interactions with RWBY and STRQ later once I develop these two a bit more), don’t be afraid to comment, message me, or send me an ask.

Know what these pictures bring to mind?

Super mountain man author Derek living in the middle of the woods, keeps to himself because brooding writer stereotypes and also people are the worst. So he’s legit like in the mountains somewhere, a ridiculously long way away from everything and it’s quiet and peaceful, and he can shift and go running without running into campers or people going skiing. He chops wood, he drinks coffee on his porch overlooking the valley, he writes—it’s peaceful and it’s quiet and he loves it.

And then one morning, he’s sitting on his porch, drinking his coffee and minding his own business, and a fucking serial killer wanders out of the woods. Dingy hat with a huge beard, looking like some crazy libertarian nutjob who lives in a tent to avoid the government taking his guns.

He’s a werewolf, but Derek doesn’t mess with serial killers, so he freezes and stares and hopes that if he doesn’t move, the serial killer just won’t see him. The guy looks a little rough around the edges, to say the least. It could happen.

Except the serial killer does eventually notice him, and he also freezes and stares, and seems to be…scared of him? Of the guy wearing flannel and drinking coffee with a book on his own front porch?

Turns out the serial killer is actually Stiles, out in the wilderness looking for his best friend Scott, who went on a camping trip with a couple college friends and hasn’t been heard from since. And Stiles is not actually a serial killer, just a really unequipped college kid roaming the woods, pretty damn lost, with a Tracking for Dummies book jammed in the bottom of his backpack.

And I mean living off trail mix and beef jerky levels of unequipped.

Like, the second this kid heard the rangers even start to suggest that they’d exhausted their resources, he said, “fuck you, I’ll find him myself” and took off into the mountains with his college backpack and the cheapest tent he could find.

So once Derek realizes that the not-serial killer is even more freaked out than he is, all he sees is a really pathetic, sore, and exhausted ball of rage and determination and offers him coffee. And actual food. And a shower because all he can smell is beef jerky.

Stiles is understandably weirded out because this dude offering him food definitely looks like a mountain man serial killer who cut himself off from society so no one would hear his victims’ screams.

There’s a lot of appearance-based assumptions all around.

Now Carrie lives alone, unattached, in her refuge—a one-room pine-paneled log cabin in the Hollywood Hills. The cabin, or lodge, as she affectionately calls it, was a ’30s Fox studio set. Considering Carrie’s million-plus take (with points) from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Jedi, the modesty of her quaint, rustic retreat is rather jarring. There is a sleeping alcove, a bed framed with tree branches, early American knickknacks and antiques. There are no self-aggrandizing Jedi artifacts; instead there are gifts echoing precious bonds. The most striking of them is a 13-star American flag from New Yorker Simon, draped over a window. The quirky aura of the place is all Carrie: offbeat, cozy, loose and strenuously decorator-proof. Sure she could probably plunk down a mill for a Topanga palazzo on stilts overhanging next month’s mudslide. And for sure there are movie stars who need more space than this lodge just to shower. Carrie’s needs are different. The further Lucas pushed her Leia into uncharted celluloid solar systems, the more it seemed Carrie needed to nest amid intimate, secure surroundings on terra firma, or at least in L.A. The lodge is her sane asylum, sheltering her from the immensity of it all. Sitting on her couch, she can see the borders of her private universe. It’s her open house for “members” like Jedi comrade Harrison Ford and his screenwriter wife Melissa (E.T.) Mathison, Teri Garr, Penny Marshall, Joan Hackett, and her brother Todd, 25, a born-again evangelist.
