On August 16th, join Mary Van Note and headliner Marga Gomez at Comedy Stylings at The Cynic Cave! The Cynic Cave is fast becoming the hottest comedy destination in San Francisco hosting the best and most unique comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. Watch some of the funniest comedians from San Francisco in an intimate environment, where they’ll be sporting their best threads while telling their best jokes.
“I wanted a way to combine a couple of my favorite things; fashion and comedy. I looked around at some fellow performers and thought, hey, I’m not alone in being excited to dress up to perform,” says producer/host Mary Van Note, “I ask each performer to wear their favorite outfit, and they’ll be brought on stage with details on what they’re wearing like a fashion show. When you think about it, some of the comedy greats have such iconic style; think Bill Cosby’s sweater or Woody Allen’s glasses, Eddie Murphy’s red leather suit or Phyllis Diller’s feathers. Style has always been a part of comedy, just not as noticed, and Comedy Stylings is a way to celebrate the jokes and the style.” In addition to great comedy each show features costume changes, a vintage pop-up shop and a makeover. That’s a lot of fun to be happening in a basement of a video store in the Mission.

[I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the readers of this blog. The notoriety and momentum of this experiment/experience is as yours as it is mine. Thank you to the San Francisco Bay Area comedy community for being the best comedy scene in the country (as far as I know), thanks to the Internet for keeping everything scattered and revelatory, thanks to Dana Sitar whom I’m sure had a hand in my humble embarrassment for the last few days, thanks to Emily Heller for inspiring CC’s inception (see: Sex Talk With Kaseem), thanks to David Cairns for saving Courting Comedy, and thanks to all those that deserve it (artist, photographers, producers, luminaries, content creators, dreamers, hustlers, and champions). While the anniversary is a month away, I look forward to YEAR THREE with pride and humility. - O.J.]
