“I was just very lucky I snuck in there,” says Happy Massee of the Polaroid on the cover of his new book, “Diary of a Set Designer.” The image features Madonna sitting in a cloak of light — a stroke of magic for the infamously finicky film — wearing a satiny bra, her legs wrapped in a black skirt and tights. It’s from the set of her 1994 music video “Take a Bow,” on which Massee worked.

The video is now in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent video collection.
