Ma'lik Richmond

Reaction to the reaction to the Steubenville rape case

I get it. It was probably really emotional in that courtroom. But it’s obvious that there are outstanding voices in the media with woefully messed-up priorities. And yeah, I’m talking about Candy Crowley and Poppy Harlow from CNN. The way their report went, you’d think Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond were the victims here! Like, wow, what a mean ol’ judge Thomas Lipps was for ruining the lives of those bright young men!

I have no doubt that they were good students and star athletes. So yeah, it’s sad that their lives and reputations are going to take a serious hit that WILL haunt them for the rest of their lives? But you know what? That’s what you get for raping a 16-year-old girl. Are we just gonna overlook that? They committed the crime of rape and were found guilty in a court of law!

But nooooo, that’s not the issue, I guess. The issue is that those poor boys, one of whom cried his eyes out in the courtroom are gonna be registered sex offenders, huh? They showed so much promise, but this is to be the end result! Well, rightfully so. Because they’re rapists.  Look, if CNN’s reporters want to be bleeding hearts, that’s fine. But they ought to be responsible about it. They can’t just let their crimes go. You know what that does?  It makes the perpetrators victims, thus erasing the TRUE victim and her suffering.

But hey, it’s not like being drugged and raped haunts you for the rest of your life too, right?

The question that needs to be asked

So, we know that Reno, the head coach, told one of the rapists that he’d take care of it. Obviously, this is totally wrong and I want his ass arrested for tampering with evidence. But it begs the question: how many times has he “taken care of it” before?

Rape tends to be a serial crime and one of the witnesses testified that they’ve seen Richmond and Mays do things like this before. And due to the blase attitude of everyone that witnessed it, I suspect that this was not the first time they’d witnessed something like this. The rapists stunk of entitlement, seemingly thinking that because they were good at football, they were invincible. And I’m sure they weren’t the only Big Red players, past of present, who felt that way.

And considering the way people have reacted to the whole thing, it’s not hard to figure out why other victims would decide not to come forward. Most rape victims don’t. And I think other victims would be even less inclined to do so. The victim in this case lived in another state, so she at least wasn’t entirely surrounded by outraged Big Red fans. If any of the other victims went to the same school as their attackers, they’d likely face daily torment for coming forward.

So my question to Reno is simple: How many other girls have you allowed to be victimized for the sake of a football trophy?
Steubenville Rapist Walks Free

With only nine months of Juvenile detention under his belt, 16-year old Ma'Lik Richmond has been released early. Richmond was convicted of raping a 16-year old girl in August, after photos and videos of the incident leaked online. The teen was sentenced to…

I encourage you to read this article your self.  I just wanted to put the released statement on here and edit it to be more…accurate.  My edits are in bold.

“Ma’Lik Richmond recently completed his designated time at the Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Detention Facility for raping a 16 year old girl. The past sixteen months have been extremely challenging for Ma’Lik and his extended family, but not as hard as the girl that he and his co-defendant sexually assaulted. At sixteen years old, Ma’Lik and his family endured hardness beyond imagine for any adult yet alone child, but let’s face it, the rapist had it coming. He The victim has persevered the hardness and made the most of yet another unfortunate set of circumstances in his her life, but all we have done is proven that society will forgive anything as long as you can throw a fucking ball. As with each other obstacle, Ma’Lik has met it squarely, like morality and common fucking decency, lifted his chin, and set his shoulders; he is braced for the balance of his life, which we all hope is short, painful and humilating just like what his victim went through. While away, Ma’Lik has reflected, learned, matured, and grown in many ways, but that means jack shit if he had to do all that to learn not to sexually assault under-aged women. He is a better, stronger person and looks forward to school, life, and spending time with family which he does not deserve.

At this point, Ma’Lik wants most to be a high school teenager, who ruined the life of a young woman just to have an orgasm. In conjunction with his unjustified release, Ma’Lik, his family, and guardians ask that the media respect their privacy in this matter OH FUCK YOU!, as we all need to heal and move on with our lives YOU KNOW WHO NEEDS TO HEAL AND MOVE ON WITH HER LIFE?  THE VICTIM< WHICH HASNT BEEN MENTIONED ONE IN THIS PRESS RELEASE! YOU KNOW, THE ONE THAT WAS HARASSED, BULLIED, THREATENED, AND BLAMED FOR THE CRIME OF BEING A VICTIM IN A SEXUAL ASSAULT!? DIE IN A FIRE! We will have you know that Ma’Lik will be taking all the time necessary to focus on his academic and personal goals. We ask for your support SUPPORT!? and prayers LORD JESUS CHRIST IN HEAVEN, GET HIM! AMEN as we move forward, Thank you.”
Petition for CNN to apologize for sympathizing with rapists.

If you haven’t heard already,

CNN Journalists covered the juvenile verdict of Trent Mays and Ma'lik Richmond, where they were charged and found guilty of raping a 16-year old girl. Except instead of speaking of the justice delivered, proceeded to comment on the “incredibly emotional-incredibly difficult” experience the two boys endured.

From the victim’s perspective, I cannot imagine seeing anything so horrendous as a renowned broadcast station praying pity for the beasts. The journalists involved need to know how such a perspective can never be taken again.
