MORE THEN IN ANY OTHER SEASON

Shout out to the creators for seeing how amazing a true love couple they had with Emma and Killian and running with it. There was no Tiva like back and forth, with it never going past heart eyes and a kiss till the end. They have them in a strong constant relationship that started early on and hasn’t wavered(not even death could change that). We’ve never really had any on and off moments and they never “moved on” from each other at any point, no cheating or love triangles when they were finally together or even before. But lets be real Emma/Killian/Neal was no love triangle. The writers sure knew quality when the saw it. Killian and Emma have been in a relationship for almost 3 full season now and are a very popular relationship. I wish more show runners/writers weren’t so scared or coy with their ships on their shows, I myself have moved on from shows because they have never just let characters be together and in love. I am so grateful for Captain Swan and now they’re getting married in 9 days!

Lili and Cole are such amazing actors I died so many times because of Bughead during the last episode. Also, is it me or does it look like we've been seeing more of Betty than any other character in season 1? Like, she definitely has more emotional and intriguing scenes than Archie

This is literally the Betty show with a nice helping of Jughead and I’m living for it, they are so great of course the show would revolve around them and their incredible skills and chemistry <3

anonymous asked:

Doea Caitlin swear a lot? I hadn't noticed. I know they're allowed to get away with words like "dick" too which most shows don't.

The CW tends to get away with liminal “swears” like douchebag, dick, and curses used for humor like “asshat” sometimes. There’s a limit on how many swears and the context they’re used in, I think, but I don’t know much about how the censors work (on any network specifically or just in general).

In looking for canon evidence, I suppose I shouldn’t say that Caitlin swears a lot or that much more than a few other characters, it’s just that she does swear and it’s something that goes unnoticed, I find? Or at least she did in season 1 when they were still getting a handle on their characters, it was just subtle.

“How the hell are you gonna do that?” she asks when Barry suggests he can unravel Clyde’s tornado in 1x01. “Get your ass over there” she says with a smile in 1x02 once she’s on board with the Flash team dynamic. It’s possible they let her swearing go by the wayside after the first few episodes, but it was something that always stuck with me about her. It definitely comes back as Killer Frost (”you got your happy ending, everyone else be damned” - 3x07).

Felicity actually pulls it off too, where it goes largely unnoticed. She has line “ow! That was not as badass as I pictured” in 1x04.

For the record, Joe swears probably the most really, going by the transcripts. He manages to say “damn” a decent amount (both in a sentence and just on its own), which none of the other characters really do. He also says “hell” as in “shut the hell up” to Clyde Mardon in 1x01, and uses similar constructions with that curse like “you scared the hell out of us” etc. So those are his two most common swears, and he pulls his curses off with a sort of humor or incredulity, most of the time. He’s one of the only characters who also swears when he’s happy/mild/joking (about Eddie to Iris “then I’ll try my damndest not to shoot him” - 1x03).

Cisco is probably right behind Joe. He says “dick” and “douchebag” and “hell” and every now and then “damn”, so he swears more and with more variety than most of the characters, depending on what you count as a “swear”. Like Joe, a lot of them are for emphasis and humor, but he’ll say it as a threat (”I’d back the hell up” to Len in 1x04). Easily the most common one for him is “hell”, he gets a chance to use it in probably 40% of episodes in S1?

Hmmm, some others.

Len has said crap (”my grandfather used to take my sister and me to this diner, the motorcar. Food was for crap…”) but doesn’t swear very much, on the whole. Singh will say “where the hell is my report” for something but doesn’t swear too much, given the stress of his job. Wally sometimes says “hell” but not much else that I can recall. Same with Iris probably, there’s little evidence of cursing.

Barry barely swears at all, especially if you consider it as a percentage of his overall lines/words. “What the hell” when he’s riled up about something (typically with anger, like “what the hell were you thinking?” to Wally when he was worried about him doing dangerous stuff in 3x03), but not much more than that and honestly not very often. A “what the hell” line is often given to Cisco in his ear or beside him when it’s an expression of confusion or wonder.

Most of the versions of Wells don’t swear either. Maybe Harry did, when pressed to anger, but I can’t recall any specific instances.

For the record, I can’t find a single instance of the word “shit” so it must be one the censors don’t like, or the writers don’t find use for. The only instance of “crap” was that line from Captain Cold that I mentioned, but it might’ve been used in episodes that weren’t in my semi-random sampling (I looked at the first half of season 1 then random episodes from the other seasons).

S3 & S4 Parallels so far

Okay so I just wanted to keep a track record on how many damn parallels Julie is giving us this season with Isaks…because this isn’t her being lazy and doing what makes people happy….noooo this is her setting us up for something we will not be ready for. So for us to work out what that is going to be, it might be easier if we look at what exactly has been paralleled so far with Isak’s season.

1. The Intro

Season 3 and season 4 are the only two seasons to start out by using the same powerful concept of introducing our mains current world with flashes of images of things that are happening everywhere that are connected and actually have an impact on the mains story very much. It shows how important everything that happened around us can be to our own personal small individual worlds. That just because it hasn’t happened to you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter, that is doesn’t effect you or have a connection to who you are and what you’re going through. And Both Isak and Sana’s seasons show us this in the first minutes of their story.

2. Group Dynamics

In both seasons we have gotten a similar scene with Sana/Isak, eating lunch while their friends discuss sex which makes both mains feel alienated and uncomfortable within the group. We see how different they both feel within their group dynamics and this feeling of never being able to “fit in”. This parallel almost sets up that Isak and Sana are both in a similar mind set. The feeling of not being able to connect with the people close to them.

3. The heartbreak party scene

This parallel was way too similar. The mains both see their love interest with someone else which both hurts and prompts them to question everything they have felt and seen so far.

4. The Crush Stalking in Biology

I don’t think I need to say much on this one because oh my god this whole clip was a repeat of Isak’s biology clip. Even from the title we go from ‘Even’ to ‘Yousef’, the setting, Mikael, even Isak interrupts Sana just like Sana interrupted Isak. This was a very blatant parallel and I feel like this is Julie’s way of making sure that we know these parallels and repeats are in no way a ‘coincidence’ there’s a purpose and I am so keen to see what it is.

5. “I’ll fix it”

So when we go back to Isak’s season the drama all starts with Isak losing Mahdi’s weed. we get this conflict when Mahdi tells him it’s 1000 kroner and Isak tries to calm him by affirming to him that he well “fix it” and thus this is how he ends up getting blackmailed by Sana to go to the kosegruppa where he meets and Even and boom all the drama plays out. This then parallels Sana who says the exact same thing to the girls when they tell her they cannot afford the bus. So just like Isak’s season it seems like this is where all the drama is going to start. With Sana determined to do anything to ‘fix’ this.

6. The cute kitchen bonding

I loooooved this new clip so much it was so fluffy and cute and it gave me the feels but guys…..it also made me feel incredibly suspicious…why? This is another blatant parallel of the iconic evak bonding domestic kitchen scene from episode 2 of season 3. Even the positioning of Isak/Sana and Even/Yousef is eerily similar. We also have the love interests preparing food for the main as they give them the hearteyes (same) and then they laugh and giggle over cute things and it’s all so perfect.

Too perfect

Too similar

this is the 6th parallel and I feel like there are more but these ones are the most obvious to me. Clear easter eggs Julie is giving us to freak out over (which I am) she wants us to see this parallel. To notice the Evak reference just like we did with the R+J reference in s3.

she wants us to see it, so when she pulls back the curtain and reveals the true reference we will once again be thrown off our feet.

ahhh I am so nervous.

Feel free to add on any other parallels you guys have seen <3

You: People are just hating on SU because it’s not like they wanted it to be

Me, an intellectual: SU started off as a fun and entertaining cartoon that slowly began to prove that it could surpass most cartoons on CN for portraying serious real world issues such as abuse, parental death, homophobia, etc. as well having a surprising and fun turn in the narrative by revealing the Crystal Gems where actual aliens trying to defy their violent government.

So of course, like any show, if it starts losing it’s touch, the audience will grow more and more annoyed. Why do you think people were growing tired of Adventure Time? Should we now accuse ex AT fans of being “ungrateful” and “whiny” for dumping a show where it’s tone and focus differs greatly from earlier seasons?

Instead of interesting monsters, more engaging scenery and fun interactions we get: human zoos, a poor and shameless allegory for anti immigrant relatives, a writer who admits to not communicating with other writers just so she can treat the show like her own fanfic, several interesting characters getting shelved and left to rot for no understandable reason, #AllLivesMatter, and being told that the revolution meant to save the earth was a MISTAKE

The show lost its charm and positive vibe that made it fun to watch. Now it’s mean-spirited, boring and frustrating. We don’t get to see fun action, we see 3 characters running a car wash. We don’t get to see more world building, we see some giant blue slave owner cry over another slave owner’s death. The Gems are barely in this show now compared to earlier seasons. There’s a reason why this show dropped massively in ratings after Bismuth.

It’s not “what we wanted it to be” it’s “what we saw, what we admired, being completely dropped and ignored for the sake of telling an even worse and less engaging narrative”

Okay, so as much as I, and others, would love to see Black Paladin Lance, the picture (from a season 3 teaser) above is indicating that Keith is most likely going to take over as leader, and so people have theorised that Lance will most likely go to the red lion and Allura will pilot the blue lion. Issue sorted, right?

Not quite

Because in S2, we see how defensive Lance got over Keith even talking about Blue. He was getting in Keith’s face and insisting how he and Blue were “very happy together” - but Keith had made no mention of flying blue at all, or anyone else for that matter.

On top of that, the audience are already aware of Lance’s insecurities about himself - he’s already said he feels like the seventh wheel in the group. So if the Blue Lion has chosen him out of the other potential paladins (a born leader, a child prodigy, engineering genius, and a pilot prodigy) and they have a strong bond, why would he just give that up so easily? He already doubts his own abilities, so I highly doubt he would want to give up piloting the blue lion who may make him secure in one fact - that after 10,000 years of waiting he is worthy to be the blue paladin, and no one else.

So if Lance was to pilot a another Lion, I highly doubt he would be doing it without some major resistance. I would love to have an episode were he just flat out refuses to leave the blue lion, and he does everything he can to stay with her. Maybe Lance’s insecurities would be explored more deeply, and how he maybe doesn’t feel good enough to pilot any other lion. Not only that, I think he and Blue will have become more friendly over time and to force them apart would just be so so wrong to Lance, and maybe to Blue as well.

some reminders if we do get sana for s4:

  •  with all the islamophobia and xenophobia in the world at the moment (such as geert wilders, whose twitter banner literally is ‘stop islam’, being one of the leading candidates of the dutch election yesterday) a season with sana in the lead couldn’t have come at a better time tbh
  • to people who think sana as s4 main is “rushed”: sana had a major subplot in s2, and she was involved in s3 (even if that was to a large extent to help isak’s development, sana and her religion was still important) so she’s not more rushed than any other character on the show imo
  •  a season with sana would probably break some of the norms of the show which would be very interesting to see (for example, her backstory in s2 had to do with her family relations – how will the show solve that, when sana still lives at home?)
  • apart from the boys, sana is probably the character who would give isak (and by extension, even) the most screen-time
  • on that note: the last season’s main is always ‘followed up’ in the next season (eva and jonas post-breakup in s2, noora coming back from london in s3)
  • RETURN OF THE GIRL SQUAD!!!
  • sana is so wise and clever and perceptive and can you imagine how cool it would be to see a whole season from her point of view?
  • also sana has such a tough exterior, so seeing what goes on when she lets her guard down? probably amazing and emotionally touching
  • i know many of you want even for s4, and i get that, i really do… but whichever character julie has chosen, it’s probably with good reason, and we probably have an awesome season in store no matter what
  • have faith in julie andem!! lord knows she’s earned it

I’m not sure I can shout any louder or more regularly that THIS IS CLASSIC ROMANTIC STORYTELLING.

Act 1.

~ Dean doesn’t believe in Angels.

~ Cas is a soldier and Angel of the Lord.

Classic antagonistic meet-cute. They get to know each other through season 4 as reluctant allies. Debate is rife between them as to the right thing to do. Denial is a running theme for Dean re: Cas, let’s be honest, not even romantically but the ever old “It’s Cas, he’ll be fine” etc. Denial is central.

Season 4 finale: THE NEW RELATIONSHIP. Cas rebelled. He did it, all of it, for Dean. They are now compatriots working together against Heaven and Hell.

~ Dean starts to have faith in Cas, he prays to Cas.

~ Cas starts to see Dean as his leader and ally, not the Angels.

Act 2.

Season 5 - 8. Getting to know you. Well its SPN, so not exactly Fun and Games but yeah, this is it. They do get to know each other, and we get to know them better too. Cas even occasionally takes part in some MOTW ‘fun and games’ episodes and we see the development of both the romantic Destiel and the very kindly clearly written as a mirror obviously platonic Sastiel for comparison.

Point of no return / deeper commitment: somewhere around season 8 / Purgatory. “I’m not leaving here without you” etc. This is also the point where Dean believes that emotions will break Cas. This is literally heartbreaking and affects how he reacts to everything moving forwards, most specifically it is the reason why he holds back so much other than when Cas is human (see all the meta about 2nd nightstands, all of 9x06, the bar scene etc). It is also a standard unrequited/undeserving/it’s better for them if they don’t love me love trope in order to drag the story out, just saying.

Falling for you / Complications & Higher stakes: Cas becoming Human. Dean’s Demon/MoC arc. All these arcs lead them to a more profound emotional development towards each other and more textual romanticism in the writing rather than the initial crush/interest.

Final straw for Cas: Perhaps believing Dean is dead in 9x23 but then consolidated in 11x23.

Final straw for Dean: Lucifer possessing Cas, the whole second half of s11.

~ Dean over this whole period comes to see Cas not as a distant Angel but in a much more Human way. He even might have stopped praying to him as he replaces it with phone calls / direct communication, but his faith in Cas is clear.

~ Cas replaces his love and faith in God with his love and faith in Dean (consolidated in 11x23) and doesn’t want be a soldier but wants to help people, maybe by saving people, hunting things…

12x12 is the expositional point telling us that Cas has CHANGED. It also is a call back to Dean’s worry that emotions will break Cas as here he is, emotional and breaking. Dean even bows his head and visually looks like he is praying (it doesn’t even matter really if he is or not, the effect for the audience is the key).

These concepts tie back round to and build on where they were BEFORE THEY MET to show how they have changed within themselves and grown in relation to each other.

So, Now. They have both experienced the complications and higher stakes towards each other. They have both fallen in love, Cas both metaphorically and literally falling (it’s only on becoming human that I think he truly realised how he felt, it’s both a narrative reality and a metaphor). Dean’s gone from having no faith to eventually meeting God and worrying the whole time about saving Cas.

Which leaves us currently at the Break up Moment.

Which is honestly exactly where I see this separation and all the questions about choices/Angels/nephilim/cosmic consequences going, leading us to….

Act 3.

Winning him back.

Slav’s Species Name

i’m not sure if anyones made a post about this yet! if so, i’m so sorry!

so this is really all speculation, and if anyone has any more input, i’d be really glad to hear it, but from what i’ve watched of season 2, i’m almost positive the name of slav’s alien species is Bytor. mainly because of that one quick scene in Stayin’ Alive, when Allura and the mice are playing charades. the mice stack atop each other, and start waving their paws around, a set of eight. Allura sees this and says:

while this is really really vague, i just found it interesting that they’d add this right after slav was introduced?

Edit: i wanted to add this because i’d forgotten!

what does that make bytor water?

tbh, i just think hunk loosely described charades to the mice and allura, so they chose random words? I don’t think it’s an actual thing.

and then theres the lil’ prisoner in s1 ep1 that looks really similar to slav, who’s most definitely a bytor, too!

someone already added the picture, but i have one saved so why not lmao

The things that I know about "Supergirl" without actually watching it.

*Maggie Sawyer invented dimples and heart eyes
*Sanvers aka ship of dreams (1000x better thank clexa)
*Bad lighting in sanvers scenes
*Mon-Ew
*another wave of the great lesbian migration
*Everyone misses Cat (that was her name? Idk)
*Lena can’t be straight
*Lena and Kara have more chemistry than Kara and Mon-Ew
*Kara had better storyline in season 1
*Some guy thought that Kara was gay
*Just buying each other flowers - yeah gal pals
*Alex’s coming out story is really important and it had a strong impact on many people
*Kara Danvers and potstickers
*Danvers Sisters bond is pure and important
*Kara is #1 sanvers shipper
*There’s this guy who seems cute and nice and he doesnt have any powers (idk if im right)
*“Sanvers centric episode” was not “sanvers centric episode” and sanvers shippers are mad because they were fooled again
*Nobody wants Mon-Ew to babysit Kara because she can take care of herself

*+ the glasses don’t help (really)

anonymous asked:

tell me about leverage. make me want to, please

alright buckle up motherfuckers, i’m about to school y’all about this wonderful show called Leverage.

let’s start with the premise: they’re a bunch of criminals who come together to work as a team and to “pick up where the law leaves off.” aka: they do illegal shit to legally take out the bad guys, i.e. framing/ruining the reputation of/revealing actual law-breaking by embezzling rich politicians, dirty cops, corporations doing secret shit on the down-low, etc.

each episode is a different bad guy they need to take down for doing something terrible, and each episode they come up with a different scheme to take them out. the team consists of: the hacker, the hitter, the grifter, the thief, and the mastermind behind all their plots. they’re all thieves at one point or another, they all grift, and they all contribute to the plan, but these are their Roles. i’ll go more in-depth on the characters in a sec.

now, i know what you’re thinking already: “wow bruh this show must be edgy af, being about actual criminals doing super illegal shit???” bUT NO. THIS SHOW COULD HAVE BEEN SO DARK BASED ON THE CONCEPT, BUT IT’S LITERALLY THE NICEST, MOST ENJOYABLE SHOW EVER.

it’s also SERIOUSLY unproblematic????? like to unrealistic levels. like Nate’s alcoholism is treated with respect and not just something he “gets over,” but despite his issues, he’s held accountable for when he’s a dick, Parker is pretty clearly neurodivergent and she’s never!! forced to be anything else!!!! anyway i could go on and on.

so let’s meet the gang.

this is Nate Ford:

he’s the mastermind, he’s brilliant and the genius behind each of their convoluted plans. he’s a jerk sometimes, and grouchy, but he’s got good reason, and he NEVER crosses over into “angsty white man justifies his assholery because of his Issues.” he used to work for an insurance company tracking down criminals and thieves before A Thing happened and he became the Dad of a group of them. he makes bad life choices, so i relate. also his son died and he has a rad ex-wife and he struggles with alcoholism. we love him.

this is Sophie Devereaux:

she’s the grifter. she’s a great actress but only when she’s breaking the law it’s a running gag. she’s terrible on an actual stage l m a o. she’s the Mom of the group, and she and Nate are lowkey flirting the entire show. she tells it like it is, but is v compassionate. sassy af. british af. would probably console you about your husband leaving you before stealing your rare artifacts. high-class which shows in the fact that she was primarily an art thief before joining the team. i wouldn’t trust her with my jewelry, but i’d tell her all my secrets, and tbh that’s the best summary of her character that you’ll get.

this is Eliot Spencer:

hooooooooooo boy. where do i begin to describe Eliot Spencer? wel, for starters, he’s the “hitter” of the group aka he beats people up when they can’t sneak their way in or out of a place. or when things go wrong. he’s super fucking badass oh my god??? like i’m pretty sure there’s maybe only one or two times in the ENTIRE. SHOW. that he can’t win a fight?? he also has a Super Secret Dark Past bc he used to be a hitman for hire, which he regrets deeply and is happy to have changed bUT AGAIN!! IT’S NOT A WHITE MALE ANGST THING. he isn’t obsessed with attoning for his actions and his scenes aren’t eaten up with Angst and Melodrama. he also has anger issues, but again, it’s not the same stereotype that you’re used to. he controls it, and he never takes it on on anybody who doesn’t deserve it (aka the bad guys). he gets around with women but he’s not sexist?? he cares about his partners.

also he’s a hardcore chef and will Fite You about food. anyway Eliot is basically the Broody White Man With Dark Past trope turned on it’s head. he’s lovable and sarcastic and could kill a man but would prefer to make you an Omelette Du Fromage or some shit.

this is Alec Hardison, aka My Son:

this is my baby. he’s a nerd and a geek and I Would Die For Him. he’s basically everything that’s good and pure in the world. the epitome of a cinnamon roll. he’s sweet and gentle and wouldn’t hurt a fly–unless that fly is a corrupt ceo personally doing dirty business, in which case that motherfucker is going down with the help of his epic hacking skills. btw did i mention he’s the hacker? yeah. he’s super fucking smart and his sense of humor could rival the sahara desert in dryness. he always makes star trek references and he has a gr8 fashion style and he irritates Eliot to no end, lmao. #platoniclifepartners, tbh. did i mention he’s the sweetest person ever? no? he is.

this is Parker:

she’s the thief, and predictably, she loves money and expensive things. tbh she’d probably stab you faster than anybody else on the team would (and has) but also she is smol and needs to be protected. she’s a killer rabbit. she’s an oddball and in the beginning, most of the others don’t know what to make of her, but they grow used to her. she’s nd af, probably autistic, and Does Not Understand Socialization. same, Parker, same. guess what? she’s never forced into acting like somebody she’s not!! when she has to be the grifter for the con job and interact with people, she’s patiently coached by Sophie, who never belittles or mocks her, and explains it in ways she can understand. she’s weird and i love her.

did i mention how unproblematic this show is? i did? well too fucking bad because i’m gonna say it again: this show is so unproblematic. like what i already said with Nate’s addiction and Parker’s neurodivergence, but wAIT! THERE’S MORE

Eliot hates guns–detests them–and won’t use them, he’s like constantly grabbing the mooks’ guns and unloading them and tossing them somewhere and it’s basically a huge trigger for him. and it’s always respected. also there’s scenes where like in the middle of a job Parker has to change into a costume and neither of men who are attracted to her–Eliot and Hardison–sneak a peak at her. they both look away during that shit and there is like, never any gross sexist jokes about it. or other things. i love it. also any romantic relationship that develops takes season of growth and shit. there’s nothing particularly Gay, but while heterosexual, it’s not Het.

the recurring antagonist is played by Mark Sheppard, a character called Sterling, who is basically a lawful good Crowley.

also one time they stole an entire country.

Leverage is fucking rad, and the concept is amazing and it coulda been so edgy and shit, but it’s literally so pure and sweet and friggin hilarious and about a bunch of people becoming a family and you need to watch it, my friend. now.

like immediately go google a page to watch it i’m not fucking kidding do it.

Nothing else mattered

It’s been quite a while since I wrote my last Supernatural meta. Some days ago I answered an ask where I said that time constraints were among the reasons why I hadn’t written much lately. The other powerful reason was lack of inspiration. The thing is that after watching episode 12x14, I felt that I simply HAD TO write about something in particular, no matter what. I haven’t had time to read any meta for this episode, and that’s a good thing because it means this is my opinion without anybody else’s influence. Without further ado, let’s talk about the part of the episode that inspired me to write again.

Other more talented meta writers have previously stated that Mary’s arc this season parallels Cas’ arc in season 6. I totally agree. The whole “Mary is working with the BMoL and keeping it from Dean and Sam” is the same thing Cas did when he was secretly working with Crowley. At least, the writers are trying to undo some things from season 6 because in this case Mary decided to confess to her sons what she was doing without being forced. However, if somebody still had doubts that Mary is a Cas parallel, in this episode there was a very explicit shout-out to a memorable scene between Dean and Cas: Mary literally told Dean, “I’m doing this for you.” I know she meant both Winchesters, but she was talking directly to Dean in that scene. Besides, where have we heard those exacts words before?

There was something else that was very relevant almost at the end of the episode. If we’re keeping in mind that Mary is a Cas parallel, how much of what Dean said to Mary applied to Cas around 6 years ago? The thing is that Dean never expressed what he felt at that time, but he did it now. The fact that he’s trying to talk about his feelings is huge character development for Dean.

What did Dean say to Mary?

“The moment I thought something bad had happened to you, nothing else mattered.”

That pretty much explains this from episode 7x01:

It also explains why Dean was so worried and desperate when he thought Cas was dead, to the point where he told Bobby that maybe angels didn’t need to breathe. It explains why when Dean realized Cas was alive, he didn’t focus on being pissed.

Dean didn’t tell Cas there was no way to redeem himself. He didn’t decide to leave him right there; Dean actually wanted to take Cas with them. Why? Dean was hurt deeply by what Cas did, and didn’t like the choices Cas made. The same happened with Mary. Dean didn’t like the choices she made and was really hurt by them. However, when Dean thought that something bad could happen to Mary, nothing else mattered. There was no betrayal important enough to prevent him from running to her rescue.

That’s what happened back in season 7’s premiere. The moment Dean thought that something bad could happen to Cas, nothing else mattered. Nothing Cas had done was beyond redemption. The idea of losing the person he loves hurts Dean a lot more than accepting the choices the person makes. That’s why Dean forgave Cas in season 7, no matter what.

Of course, many of us already knew that Cas meant a lot to Dean even back then. I’m just glad the subtext of season 12 is somehow explaining things that happened so long ago in the show. If season 12 continues like this, I might feel inspired enough to keep writing as often as I used to.

study tips

- you remember material better if you physically interact with it as opposed to just scanning it over with your eyes

  • instead of merely reading a page of notes, go through it with a pen/highlighter in your hand. underline/circle/annotate things as you review the material

- make a study schedule. include which days you want to study for each subject, deadlines (e.g. “finish essay by tuesday”, “study guide for physics should be done today”), any study sessions you might have with others, and time for sleep

  • finals season often overwhelms students because of the sheer amount of work facing them. by breaking things down into a schedule and focusing on smaller portions of work day-by-day, things appear much more manageable

- use mnemonic devices to help you remember things (when applicable)

  • i like to use them for memorizing groups/orders of things - for example, when i took a class on dinosaurs, i had a lot of trouble keeping the paleozoic/mesozoic/cenozoic and triassic/jurassic/cretaceous orders straight until i realized that both were in reverse-alphabetical order

- different study methods work better for different classes

  • flashcards are best for classes where you have to memorize lots of information (without providing further explanation), e.g. introductory psychology
  • mind maps are good for organizing thoughts and seeing how ideas fit together, e.g. english and literature classes
  • practice problems/practice tests are usually the best way to prepare for STEM classes, e.g. math and chemistry

optimizing your performance/productivity

- try to get some sleep. try.

  • you probably won’t be getting your full 7-8 hours during finals season. fine. completely understandable. but a couple hours here and there throughout the day will do wonders. your brain doesn’t work at optimum levels when you’re sleep-deprived, so while you may not have time for solid 8-hour blocks of sleep, it’s in your best interests to get 1-2 hour powers naps in when you can. aim for at least 4-6 hours of total sleep time per day

- finals week is not the time for junk food. if you’re going to push your body to its physical and mental limit (as so many of us do), you’d better make damn sure you’re at least giving it the best possible fuel to run on

- you should be aware of your study habits by finals season. take them into account and use them to your advantage

  • more productive in the morning? set an early alarm and get yo ass up
  • procrastinate a lot? bitch me too!! it’s not necessarily a bad thing - some people do their best work under time pressure. try this thing i like to call “productive procrastination”: if you wanna procrastinate on something, do so by working on another assignment/studying for another class. this way, you fulfill your desire to procrastinate but you’re still being productive and not completely fucking yourself over
  • more productive when working with others? try to organize study sessions (or you’re the opposite like me and prefer to study alone, don’t feel guilty about declining requests to work with friends/classmates)

- there’s an app called “self control” that blacklists or whitelists websites for a given amount of time (that you set yourself). it forces you to stay focused if you can’t help but peek on social media sites every so often when working on your laptop

- prioritize! know which finals will require the most effort on your part and plan accordingly

  • give more priority to finals that are worth a higher percentage of your overall grade
  • calculate the minimum score you need on the final that’ll still get you the overall grade you’re aiming for - generally, you should be spending more study time on finals that you’ll need a higher grade on

test taking tips

- if you finish with extra time, go through your test again and attempt to answer every question you left blank (unless you’re penalized for guessing, of course). the potential for partial credit is better than definitely receiving no credit

  • for multiple choice, use process of elimination and then make your best guess
  • if you don’t know the answer to a short answer/essay-style question, then answer around it. for example, if you don’t know the significance of caliban’s soliloquy in shakespeare’s the tempest, talk about the character of caliban in general and/or the role soliloquies are meant to play in shakespeare’s works
  • if you’re stuck on a math problem and have no clue how to even begin, just start manipulating numbers and applying formulas

- dress in layers so you’re comfortable no matter the room temperature

- always answer the questions you’re sure of first

- don’t be afraid to ask the proctor if you’re unsure of what something on the test is asking of you (i.e. questions for clarification)

- pay attention to the questions on the exam - sometimes one question may hint at the answer to a different question

  • e.g. 2) what year was x fossil discovered? and 31) who discovered x fossil in the early 1930s?

miscellaneous advice

  • try to get everything you need (calculator batteries, scantrons, blue books, writing utensils, etc.) the weekend before exams start. this way, you’re not freaking out right before a test because you’re missing something
  • try to time your coffee/lack of sleep crashes such that they don’t happen during a final exam (see tip about scheduling above)
  • if you’re pulling an all-nighter, set alarms periodically throughout the night (e.g. every hour and a half) so that if you accidentally fall asleep, you won’t sleep through the whole night
  • also set an alarm 20-30 minutes before each final. just in case ;)
  • bring an extension cord to the library if your school always seems to be short on outlets during finals week
  • always use the bathroom right before sitting an exam (even if you don’t feel like you really need to) to avoid getting up and wasting time during the test itself
  • turn off your motherfucking cell phone before your tests omfg

a note on adderall, a popular “study drug” students take during finals season:

i personally advise against the use of any study drugs that are not prescribed by a medical professional, but the fact of the matter is that students are going to use them regardless of what i say. when they don’t know what they’re getting into, they put themselves into very dangerous positions - often ending in trips to the emergency room or rehab. so in the interest of promoting safety (well, as much safety as is possible given the circumstances) and knowledge, here are a few things you should know about adderall if you decide you want to use it:

  • addy is very addictive and can make the user dependent on it
  • if you take it, you’ll start to sweat. a lot. dress accordingly
  • addy will make you lose your appetite. don’t listen to your body when it says it’s not hungry. you gotta force yourself to eat bruh
  • it’s also really easy to get dehydrated on addy - not only do you sweat a lot, but lots of people tend to pee a fuck ton while they’re on it. stay hydrated
  • addy is a stimulant. you won’t be able to sleep until its effects wear off
    • and just like other stimulants (e.g. caffeine, ecstasy), you will experience a “crash” afterwards. the crash is more pronounced than one you would get from coffee or even caffeine pills
  • there are two “kinds” of addy: IR and XR
    • IR means “immediate/instant release” - whatever dose you take will be released into your system all at once
    • XR means “extended release” - there will be an initial release of the drug into your system and then small amounts thereafter over an extended period of time
  • always err on the side of caution with dangerous drugs - when in doubt, start with a lower dose

as a parting note, i would just like to remind you all to keep in mind the importance of self-care and finding balance. there is a fine line between making temporary sacrifices and being self-destructive. sometimes it’s good to push yourself - “no pain, no gain” as they always say. but analogously, you also gotta recognize when it’s time to dial it back a bit - allow yourself a nap or an hour break to grab dinner with some friends every once in a while. trust me, you deserve it. good luck!

Just curious, will we be seeing Lila around in the background/foreground in the next seasons? Also will there be any more new students or new friends/ other around Adrien and Marinette's age?

Yes. And yes.
