“I can’t wait, see you in 10 minutes!” I said excitedly to Luke, putting the phone down.
It was prom, and I had been waiting for this day since I was 11. Finally it was here.
I was doing the finishing touches to my outfit, with a nice necklace and applying some lip balm. I collected everything I needed in my bag, and before I knew it, the doorbell rang. I smiled instantly, giving myself a quick look up and down in the mirror. I straightened up my dress and headed for the door. With my hand on the door handle, I took in a deep breath.
I opened the door, but my smile soon vanished from my face. Instead of seeing Luke at the door, it was Dylan.
“Hi Hannah,” I began to shake my head in shock, slamming the door, but he caught it with his foot and walked in.
“What are you doing here Dylan?” I said, walking away with my back to him.
“I’ve come to pick you up for prom.” He smirked.
I turned around, “Why can’t you just let go of me?! I’m with Luke now and have been for 6 months.” I said.
He started walking after me, “Well, you know, I usually get what I want.” He said.
“Is that a threat?” I asked angrily. He was a dangerous person.
“Oh of course not.” He started walking faster towards me with a smirk on his face. My eyes widened and I started running up the stairs.
“You’re going to prom with me Hannah, our own private prom.” He shouted as he chased me up the stairs. I ran up and to the bathroom and locked the door before he got to me. He began banging on the door yelling for me to open, as I slowly fell to the tiled floor in floods of tears.
“Leave me alone!” I screamed, even though I knew he wasn't going away. I stood up creeping further away from the door and against the back wall. I was shivering from fear. This was supposed to be a perfect day.
“I’ll stay here all night if that’s what it takes Hannah! You’re meant to be with me!” He shouted. His voice was so frighteningly aggressive.
I didn’t know what to do. But I knew that the lock wasn’t going to hold forever. So I screamed.
“Help! Help me!” Hoping somebody would hear me. Every bang on the door was like a pounding to my heart. Tears were streaming down my cheeks, and I could barely breathe.
Out of the corner of my eye, out of the window I saw a figure walking down my drive. I thought to myself, Luke. My eyes focused. I smashed on the window, “Luke! Help me!” I screamed.
Luke looked up and dropped his bouquet of flowers and ran for my front door. Just that moment, Dylan broke through the door. I fell to the ground from the bang.
I could hear Luke running up the stairs, yelling, “Hannah! Hannah!” He came through the bathroom door and grabbed hold of Dylan, slamming him against the wall.
While still pinning Dylan up, Luke twisted his head quickly and whispered to me frowning, “You alright?”
I nodded back, swallowing, still gaping for air from all of the shock. Luke looked back to Dylan, screwing up his lips angrily. He looked into Dylan’s eyes, before punching him in the stomach a couple of times. Dylan fell to the floor, choking on his blood slightly.
Luke wiped the sweat from his forehead, still panting heavily, and held his hand out for me to take. I took it and he helped me up, quickly and tightly pulling me into his embrace.
“Are you okay Hannah?!” He whispered to me, kissing the top of my head.
I sniffed, “I am now that your here.”
