Lebenslanger-Schicksalsschatz

A SMALL GERMAN CLASS:

(1) Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand: The thing that is almost the thing you want, but not quite.

 (2) Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz: It is not something that develops over time. It’s something that happens instantaneously. It courses through you like water of a river after a storm, filling you and emptying you all at once. You feel it throughout your body, in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin.

Victoria is wunderbar, but she is not my “Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz.” She’s my “Beinahe-Leidenschaftsgegenstand”… it means the thing that is almost the thing that you want, but it’s not quite. That is Victoria to me. “Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz” is not something that develops over time. It is something that happens instantaneously. It courses through you like the water of a river after a storm, filling you and emptying you all at once. You feel it throughout your body, in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin… have you ever felt this way about someone?

“There is a word in German: Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz. And the closest translation would be…’Lifelong Treasure of Destiny.’ And Victoria is wunderbar, but she is not my Lebenslanger schicksalsschatz. She is my Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand, you know? It means…’the thing that is almost the thing that you want…but it’s not quite.’ Lebenslangerschicksalsschatz is not something that develops over time. Everyone does eventually. You just never know when or where.”—Klaus, How I Met Your Mother 08x01

In deine Hände… in dein Herz… in deinen Bauch… in deine Haut…
—  Klaus, How I met your mother

And I just wanted to make a vid that showed that. So I hope you all enjoy it and please like the vid and comment!

Lebenslanger schicksalsschatz is not something that develops over time. It is something that happens instantaneously. It courses through you like the water of a river after a storm, filling you and emptying you all at once.

You feel it throughout your body, in your hands, in your heart, in your stomach, in your skin…have you ever felt this way about someone?

If you have to think about it, you have not felt it.

Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz... what?

Okay… Let me tell you one thing: There is not such a thing as “lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz” in German. Yes, these are german words. But they have no special meaning. And trust me, I’m not only German, but also I’m Austrian + I have a lot of relatives all over Germany. And there isn’t even a dialect using this word. The other word he mentioned… Due to his really bad german, I couldn’t even understand it.

Hated this episode -.-

btw: Lebenslanger Schicksalsschatz also sounds stupid.
