Jimmy Choo Acquired By Labelux

Jimmy Choo, the high-end footwear line, was acquired by German luxury-goods holding company Labelux for a reported $811 million. Labelux, which owns the Bally shoe brand and the Derek Lam label, is the third owner for the brand in seven years. Co-founder Tamara Mellon retains 17 percent ownership and will keep her post as chief creative officer.

The shoe company has been acquired for about £500 million, though an exact figure has not been disclosed. Current owners TowerBrook Capital Partners were weighing up the option of an IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange, but have instead gone with the Austria-based luxury goods group Labelux, who have also invested in brands such as Bally and Derek Lam. Co-founder Tamara Mellon retains her 17% stake in the brand (which has an estimated worth of £85 million) intends to remain as creative director and face of the company.
