LAPD celebrate Michael Brown’s killing with racist song

TMZ has obtained a video of a song performed at a charity event held at the Elks Lodge in Glendale, California which refers to Michael Brown as a “roadkill dog.” The event was hosted by retired LAPD officer Joe Myers as part of a charity golf tournament. About half of the 50-60 guests were also officers, according to TMZ.

In the video, Gary Fishell, a former federal investigator, sings a parody of the song “Bad, bad Leroy Brown“:

“Michael Brown learned a lesson about a messin’

With a badass policeman

And he’s bad, bad Michael Brown

Baddest thug in the whole damn town

Badder than old King Kong

Meaner than a junkyard dog.

Two men took to fightin’

And Michael punched in through the door

And Michael looked like some old Swiss cheese

His brain was splattered on the floor

And he’s dead, dead Michael Brown

Deadest man in the whole damn town

His whole life’s long gone

Deader than a roadkill dog.”

In an interview with TMZ, Fishell’s lawyer says that Fishell now realizes the song was “off color and in poor taste.” “He’s a goofball who writes funny songs,” his lawyer continued. “He thought the room would get a kick out of it.”

Myers was unapologetic about his guest’s chosen form of entertainment: “How can I dictate what he says in a song? This is America. We can say what we want. This is a free America.”

A representative from the Glendale Elks Lodge condemned the performance: “It’s deplorable and inappropriate and the Lodge will take disciplinary action against [Fishell] and possibly the people who organized the event,” a trustee said. “We don’t stand for any racist things like this.”

A 27-year-old Los Angeles pharmacist has sued the Los Angeles Police Department over injuries she sustained when she was thrown from a moving squad car. The New York Daily News reported that Kim Nguyen says she fell from the car as she struggled to escape sexual assault by a police officer.

“He was grabbing my left inner thigh, trying to — I’m assuming — opening my legs,” she said in her deposition about the incident.

Horrifying surveillance video shows a half-naked Nguyen tumbling from the police car into the street. She was badly injured and only regained consciousness when she emerged from a six-day medically induced coma.

Her injuries included a badly broken jaw, a brain concussion and soft tissue injuries all over her body.

The nightmare began when she and two male friends were waiting for a cab at 2:00 a.m. outside a restaurant in Los Angeles. The trio, Nguyen said, had been drinking.

A squad car pulled up to the curb and officers handcuffed her and bundled her into the back seat, saying she was being arrested for public intoxication. The car pulled away from the curb without either of Nguyen’s companions.

According to Nguyen’s deposition, one officer remained in the back seat of the squad car. He fondled her chest and yanked her head around by the ears before pulling up her skirt and trying to force her legs open.

It was then, she said, that the door behind her abruptly swung open and she was thrown from the vehicle.

Her attorney Arnoldo Cassillas said to KCAL that his client spent two weeks in the hospital with her jaw wired shut. All of her teeth were shattered in the fall and had to be pulled. She is suing for criminal negligence.

Unarmed black man, Ezell Ford, killed by LAPD
August 13, 2014

On the heels of the Mike Brown tragedy, another Black man has been shot and killed by the police. The 24-year-old man succumbed to gun injuries after an encounter with police in South LA.

The incident happened Monday evening, shortly after a shooting was reported at the intersection of West 65th Street and South Broadway. The LAPD stopped a man 200 blocks north of the 65th block when things took a dangerous turn. According to a police statement, officers opened fire after “a struggle ensued.”

The man, who was later identified as Ezell Ford, was then transported to the nearest hospital where he underwent surgery but later died. Ford is one of countless victims who have recently died at the hands of police- who are to protect and serve the community.

Was Ford killed for simply being a young, African-American male – the very same characteristics that claimed the lives of John Crawford and Mike Brown?

The mother of the victim, Tritobia Ford,  said her son was lying on the ground and obeying the officers’ commands when he was shot. Multiple reports indicate he was unarmed.

Further details on the shooting is underway and will be investigated by LAPD’s Force Investigation Division. The LAPD is currently being sued by Marlene Pinnock, a homeless woman whose vicious beating at the hands of a still unidentified officer was caught on tape. Her lawsuit alleges excessive force, assault, battery.

The surrounding south LA community has organized a protest to demand justice for Ezell on Sunday, August 17 at the LAPD headquarters at 3 p.m.

Rest in power, Ezell. No justice, no peace!

In 1992, after the Rodney King beating, OGs from the Crips and Bloods in the Watts district of Los Angeles met to end the violence that was happening in their communities. Black people everywhere were angry about the Rodney King verdict and decided it was time to act. Hundreds of Bloods and Crips would meet in a gymnasium and declare a ceasefire against each other. They had realized that the police were the real enemy. The gang leaders would also create a sports league for the community. Hundreds of black men and women from the bloods and Crips no longer looked at each other as enemies. They partied together and played on sports teams together. The peace Treaty ended over 30 years of gang violence and the homicide rate dropped 44%. After the Watts treaty, several Latino gangs and many more black gangs all over California began to adopt a similar peace treaties. The Watts treaty lasted for several years before the LA police would infiltrate the movement and cause chaos. This is Black History that they do not teach in schools. This is what they will never tell you about black gangs. The LA Gang Truce was a symbol of hope to the black community and today it remains that. We do not need white people to help us solve any of our problems. We have the potential to be a mighty people. The violence in our communities can stop. All it takes is for dedicated black souls to get together. So the next time you hear about the LA Riots…make sure you remember the LA Gang truce as well.

African-American actress Danièle Watts claims she was “handcuffed and detained” by police officers from the Studio City Police Department in Los Angeles on Thursday after allegedly being mistaken for a prostitute.

According to accounts by Watts and her husband Brian James Lucas, two police officers mistook the couple for a prostitute and client when they were seen showing affection in public. When the officers asked Watts to produce a photo ID when questioned, she refused. Watts was subsequently handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser while the officers attempted to figure out who she was. The two officers released Watts shortly afterwards.

Watts, who played CoCo in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and currently stars in Martin Lawrence vehicle Partners, posted an account of the incident on her Facebook page:

Watt’s husband Brian Lucas, who is white, claimed that the two were targeted by police for being an interracial couple. In a seperate post on his Facebook page, Lucas said that “from the questions that [police] asked me as D was already on her phone with her dad, I could tell that whoever called on us (including the officers), saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and a hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client).”

An Los Angeles PD public information officer told Variety that “there was no record of the incident as Watts wasn’t arrested or brought into the station for questioning.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. In 2008, a Galveston, Texas couple sued three police officers who arrested and beat their 12-year-old daughter after mistaking her for a prostitute.

Some really solid footage of LAPD’s violence at yesterday’s demonstration

The tape shows several of my friends being shot and beaten with batons, but the violence directed toward individual black protesters is particularly jarring.

Two Innocent Black Men Shot By Police, Then Falsely Accused Of Murder

LOS ANGELES (CN) - An Inglewood police officer shot down two innocent and unarmed men, without warning or questions and without identifying himself, the men say in Federal Court.

Thirty-five-year-old Robert Pickett, of Los Angeles, and Darryl Lewis, 39, of Gardena, say they spent the day grilling burgers with friends and were picking up some dumbbells and checking on one of Pickett’s cousins after midnight on May 24, 2011, when Officer Mike Bolliger pulled up and came out shooting.

Pickett says Bollinger “parked his car at the corner, got out armed with his shotgun cocked, loaded and ready to fire” and shot them.

“No questions asked, no weapons seen, no words offered or exchanged. Defendant Bollinger blasted three shotgun rounds at the hapless and unarmed plaintiffs, striking them and wounding them as they sought to take cover from assault, leaving them in critical condition, bleeding face-down on the ground,” Pickett says in the Dec. 3 complaint.

The men say Bollinger was responding with no partner or backup to a report of a home invasion robbery by two black men who might be armed with handguns, at the apartment complex where Pickett’s cousin lived. The “sketchy information” about the robbers said only that they were black men, according to the complaint. Lewis stood by the security gate at the front of the apartment complex, smoking a cigarette, while Pickett punched in the pass code and said he was going to see his cousin.

Then, “Without warning, without investigation, without knowledge of who was in the area, of who the suspects were or what they looked like, and in violation of all training and standard police protocol, [Bollinger] approached the apartment gate and immediately shot Mr. Lewis and Mr. Pickett,” the complaint states.

Pickett, a handyman who has a son and was engaged to be married at the time, suffered seven gunshot wounds, including one to his head.

Lewis, a husband and father of four, was shot once in the back and three times in the legs.

After other officers arrived and handcuffed them, the men say, “It became apparent that the wrong men had been shot as a result of Bolliger’s rash, reckless and life-endangering conduct.”

Though they lay bleeding and handcuffed, “in critical condition,” the men say, the officers “set out to cover up the shooting of these two innocent, unarmed men.”

To top it off, they say, “While driving with reckless abandon to the scene, they ran over a pedestrian, in a cross walk, killing her.”

Pickett and Lewis sued four other officers, in addition to Bolliger and the city.

The cover-up was a bogus story that Lewis and/or Pickett had pointed guns at Bolliger, according to the complaint. “The problem for defendant Bolliger and the rest of defendant police officers was that neither plaintiff was armed; neither possessed a weapon of any kind. Likewise, neither plaintiff was in possession of any of the stolen items supposedly taken by the suspect in the robbery,” the complaint states.

Where cops learned to act this way? In action movies of 90s? In video games? That’s totally dope. I’m speechless. I think the story tells for itself. I hope that Mike Bolliger and cops who helped him to cover up his insane deed will face serious charges, ‘cause this case is incredibly outrageous. LAPD is famous for its crappy deeds, but this one is the worst shit I’ve ever met. More than that here’s another story about racial profiling.
