“I saw him play in Portland in 1988,” says Courtney. “I’m from Eugene. I thought he was really passionate and cute, but I couldn’t tell if he was smart, or had any integrity. And then I met him at a show about a year, or something ago."
”Butthole Surfers,“ says Kurt.
”And L7,“ adds Courtney, ”I really pursued him, not too agressive, but agressive enough that some girls would have been embarrassed by it. I’m direct. That can scare a lot of boys. Like, I got Kurt’s number when they were on tour, and I would call him. And I would do interviews with people who I knew were going to interview Nirvana, and I would tell them I had a crush on Kurt. Kurt was scared of me. He said he didn’t have time to deal with me. But I knew it was inevitable.“
Kurt adds, ”I would just like to say I liked Courtney a lot. I wasn’t ignoring her. I didn’t mean to play hard to get. I just didn’t have the time, I had so many things on my mind.“
”He had to write a hit record,“ says Courtney.
The turning point for their relationship was last September. Courtney was meeting with a record company exec. ”He said to me, ’What do you want? I can make you a big star,’“ says Courtney, ”And I said, ‘I want to see Nirvana in Chicago.’ So he got on the phone and spent, like, $1000 and bought me a ticket and I went. And that is when we got together.”

I bet most of you know, that February 20th is Kurt’s birthday. Last year I tried to make Kurt’s cookies and although the recipe is very simple and you don’t even have to bake the cookies I still managed to fuck it up. Hahah! I’m not good at kitchen :D Well… this year I’m going to try again. I’m not a quitter! I know now, what I did wrong and I’m not gonna make same mistakes again. Anyways… these cookies are really sweet and I mean REALLY SWEET, but we all know how Kurt liked sugar, don’t we? Hahah! :D
The photograph is from Kurt’s Journals. Here’s also the clearer recipe that I saved from the post from @phineas4cobain Thank you for sharing it back then!! I thought I share it now, if someone else wants to try make them :)
3 cups quick oats 2 sticks butter 2 cups sugar ½ cup milk 3 tablespoons cocoa 2 teaspoons vanilla extract ¼ teaspoon salt
• Put the oats in a large bowl.
• Combine everything else in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.
Let boil two minutes.
Remove from heat and pour over the oats. Stir the mixture until it sets.
• Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper. Set in the fridge or freezer until they can be peeled off. I have used foil also.
My mom’s recipe had peanut butter (don’t know why Kurt didn’t include that….he liked peanut butter)
Anyway, if using peanut butter…add ½ cup PB when you remove from the heat.
If I succeed well, I’ll certainly post photos but if I don’t, I’ll probably just whine about it like I did last year. :D I’m also going to watch Nirvana DVD’s… maybe Montage Of Heck and something else. No specific plans really. Just thinking about Kurt on that specific day ❤
