This is Minna Canth (1844-1897), one of the very first Finnish feminists. She’s a real badass. Her husband died just a month before their seventh child was born and a few years later she inherited her father’s button shop (which sold a bunch of other stuff as well) and started to run it, which was really rare for a woman in Finland at the time.
She was also the first female journalist in Finland and wrote a lot, and considering she had seven children I just have to admire her for finding the time and actually having the motivation.
She also held a literature-oriented saloon where she invited a bunch of Finnish celebrities and they’d discuss current events and such. She also helped to found a lot of schools, especially in her hometown Kuopio.
