a/n: again, sorry this is so late! i had it done last week but never got around to posting it, but i hope you guys enjoy it anyway
You wanted nothing to do with Embry
anymore, or at least, that’s what you told yourself. It helped you deal
somewhat with the unyielding void that seemed determined to encompass your
life. You filled your days with tasks that preoccupied your mind so that it
couldn’t wander off and think about how bad things were without your best
friend. But there was only so much you could do. Nothing was the same without
Even falling asleep was an issue. You
constantly listened to music before bed and fell asleep with your headphones
on, because if you left your mind to its affairs, sooner or later, it would
find its way back to Embry. Your skin ached at the thought of him. What you
wouldn’t give for one of his hugs.
That evening, you’d retired to your room
much earlier than usual, skipping dinner. You slipped on your headphones as you
always did before bed and burrowed yourself under your covers. Music started
playing, lulling you to the edge of unconsciousness.
Your eyes shot open.
How beautiful it had been – you’d been on
the verge of slipping into a deep sleep. But the song that was blaring through
your headphones had yanked you back to reality. Tears sprang to your eyes as a
morose reflex. It was one of your favourite songs.
though you’re so close to me
still so distant, and I can’t bring you back
You sat up and clasped a hand to your
throat, unable to breathe, unable to swallow.
sound of your voice
on my memories
if you’re not with me
You hated this song, and you hated Linkin
Park, and you hated yourself for still listening to it. Everything that
reminded you of Embry was subjected to your loathing. He would always listen to
their albums while he worked on his dirt bike with you, and the two of you
always sang along at the top of your lungs. You loved the smile Embry gave you
whenever you belted out something better than he did.
How you missed that smile.
matter how far we’ve come
can’t wait to see tomorrow
And now you were fairly sure you wouldn’t get
to see tomorrow with Embry. Your tomorrows would be void of him, and you were
going to have to learn to live without your other half.
The song ended and another by the same band
started playing, and that was when you pulled off your headphones and tossed
your iPod to the foot of your bed. Shakily running your hands through your
hair, you reached for a tissue and wiped your cheeks dry.
There was a sudden tap at your window – and
then another – and another – like someone was throwing stuff at it. You patted
your eyes one more time with the sleeve of your shirt and moved closer to the
Embry was there.
He was shirtless, the native tattoo on his
shoulder strikingly beautiful against his deep russet skin. He flashed you a
smile, white teeth almost glowing in the darkness, motioning for you to open
the window. You should have pulled the curtains closed and forgotten all about
it, but your hands moved faster than you could think, doing as he wished.
Embry took a few steps back and came
running towards your house, leaping gracefully until his hands caught hold of
your sill. What had looked impossible to you came easily to Embry, like jumping
two stories up wasn’t a big deal. He swung his legs in through your window,
landing in your room without even the slightest of sounds.
Before you could say anything, Embry pulled
you into his chest, holding you fiercely against his body. He was warm – far
too warm than any human should have been – but every cell in your body seemed
to hum at his touch like they were waking up from a heavy sleep.
“(Y/N), I’m so sorry,” he whispered against
your hair. “I’m so, so sorry.”
You didn’t realize you were crying again
until he broke the hug and wiped the tears off your cheeks with his long
“You’re such an asshole,” you said,
gritting your teeth. “I hate you so much.”
Hurt flickered across Embry’s face, and
then he shook his head. “No, please don’t say that. You can’t hate me, (Y/N).
It would kill me.”
“Yeah?” You felt your cheeks burn crimson.
“You deserve to know how that feels! For weeks, I thought you’d grown tired of
me – and maybe you have – and I’ve been wondering what the hell I’ve done to
push you away and make you feel like you had to join Sam’s gang—”
Embry’s voice was stern. “Sam Uley isn’t who I thought he is. He’s a good
person, (Y/N) – stop rolling your eyes and listen
– he’s a really good person. The things he does, he does it to protect everyone
on the res. I judged him too harshly before.”
“You’re brainwashed, Embry,” you insisted.
“He’s sunk his claws in you and—” Embry laughed, rubbing his forehead with the
back of his hand. You frowned. “I’m glad you find this funny. You’re such a
“You’re right. I am.” His smiled faded. “I
hurt you and I hate myself for it. But I don’t have to hide anything from you
anymore, (Y/N). I can tell you everything.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Oh, so you’re gonna
let me in on all your little cult secrets? Trying to recruit me, too, Embry?”
“Not even close.” And then Embry bent slightly
and picked you up without effort, like you didn’t weigh more than a feather.
Before you had a chance to protest, he leaped out the window with you safely in
Embry ran faster than humanly possible. The
two of you were speeding past trees so fast you thought you were going to run
into them, especially with it being so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front
of your face, but Embry didn’t seem to have any problems with his vision. You
wanted to protest and tell him to slow down but the wind caught your voice in
He eventually came to a halt, emerging out
of the woods in front of a little wooden house with warm, glowing windows and
heaps of flowers growing out of boxes and pots. Embry set you down and took
your hand in his, walking up the few front steps and in through the open
“Hey, look what the wolf dragged in!” you
heard someone say – Jared. He, Paul, and Sam were sitting around a little round
kitchen table with mismatched chairs, a giant platter of cookies in front of
Wolf? Wasn’t the expression about a cat instead?
“Did you tell her?” Paul asked with his
mouth full. Embry wrinkled his nose.
“Nice, Paul, disgust her to death, why
Paul swallowed and grinned, giving you a
wink. Your face heated.
Embry cleared his throat and motioned to
the guys. “(Y/N), this is the pack.”
“Yeah, be afraid,” Jared snickered. “We’re super scary.”
You narrowed your eyes. “Pack? Like a wolf pack?”
“Man, you hit the nail right on the head,”
Paul said, reaching out to take another cookie.
What did he even mean? You were utterly
confused by everyone and how they acted. Wasn’t a gang supposed to be much
more… dangerous? They were all
sitting around eating cookies like children, despite their bulky physique and
A girl came downstairs, her black hair tied
back in a ponytail. She saw you and gave you a bright smile. Half her face was
scarred – deep, long lines running down from her hairline to her chin – and yet
she was still impossibly beautiful. Your eyes flickered away from her face,
afraid of staring too long.
“Is this (Y/N)?” she asked. Embry nodded.
“I’m Emily,” the girl said. She pulled you
into a hug, which took you by surprise. An sense of comfort flowed through you
– she felt oddly like family already.
Sam Uley stood, towering over you, all
muscle and strength. His stature intimidated you – it was clear he was a leader
in all sense of the word. When he spoke, his voice was as strong as his build.
“There’s something you should know, (Y/N),”
Embry was very at ease around you, as if
the weeks you spent apart hadn’t changed anything. Really, you knew far too
well that wasn’t the case. Things would never go back to the way they were
You couldn’t wrap your head around it.
Although the truth was screaming hoarsely in your face, begging you to listen,
you wanted to dismiss it and stick it somewhere in the back of your mind where
it would never see the light of day again.
Your best friend was a werewolf, with sharp
claws and a set of teeth that could tear through anything. And yet when you
looked at his sprawled figure on your bed, you couldn’t believe it. There was a
softness in his face that you could never attribute to a creature as vicious as
a wolf. The smile you loved so much could never belong to a wild animal. He was
your Embry, and you didn’t want to
imagine him any other way.
You sat beside him at the foot of your bed.
Embry’s fingers were tracing circles on your skin, like a gentle flame that did
everything but burn you.
“So,” he began, leaning further back
against your pillow. “Are you afraid?”
“No.” And it wasn’t a lie – the only way
Embry could hurt you was if he left again. But now that you were in on the
secret, he didn’t have any reason to.
Embry smiled and the affection in his eyes
was almost palpable.
“Then there’s something else I have to tell
you,” he said. He pursed his lips like he was thinking hard, one eyebrow raised
in concentration. His eyebrows were going to be the death of you – you could
always tell what he was thinking by the subtle way they arched. “Okay, this is
going to sound crazy—”
“Crazier than finding out my best friend is
a straight-up Quileute legend?”
Embry laughed a scratchy laugh that gave
you goosebumps – since when was he so
beautiful? – and his fingers trailed higher up on your arm.
“I guess not,” he said. “You’re right,
maybe it’s not so crazy.” He took in a deep breath and propped himself on his
elbows. “You know how Sam and Emily are super in love, right?”
You nodded. The whole evening while at
Emily’s house, she and Sam were like magnets. The way he looked at her, the way
he touched her, the way he kissed her… every time you’d witnessed their
displays of affection, as subtle as they might have been, your eyes had
flickered towards Embry and your blood seemed to burn through your veins with a
feeling you couldn’t put into words.
“Well, that’s ‘cause he imprinted.” He paused as if waiting for
a reaction. You edged closer. “Imprinting is something that happens to some of
us. It’s our way of finding the person we were meant to be with. Kind of like—”
“Exactly.” There was another pause, but it
was far heavier this time. Every muscle in Embry’s body seemed to tense – and
relaxed immediately when you placed your hand on his shoulder.
“Did you imprint, too?” you asked.
“Yeah.” Embry leaned back on your bed.
“That day when you yelled at me in front of the diner? It was the first time
seeing you since I turned.” His brown eyes glinted. “You don’t know how happy I
was to find out that the girl I’ve been in love with all this time was also my
You struggled to find your breath. “You’re
in love with me?” you whispered.
“Madly.” His fingers went back to tracing
patterns on your arm. “I was so scared when I heard about imprinting. I didn’t
want to see you because I was afraid that it wouldn’t be you. And I didn’t want
to imagine myself loving anyone but you.”
Embry flashed you his smile again – the
smile you loved so much – and pulled you down beside him. You buried your face
in the crook of his neck, the heat from his body filling you up like before.
The song you’d listened to that evening and had adamantly tried to hate echoed
in your thoughts.
Pick up, you pleaded silently. Come on, come on, come on—
“Hey, Mrs. Call,” you said. “It’s (Y/N). I was just wondering — is Embry home?”
You heard a shuffling on the other end of the line and then a heavy sigh. “No, honey, he’s out. Again. On a school night.” Her irritation was very obvious, though it was nothing to what you felt. “I’ll tell him you called, though.”
“Thanks, Mrs. Call.”
Hanging up, you let yourself fall on your bed and curled yourself around your pillow. There was a deep ache in your chest that pulsed through the rest of your body, and you hated Embry Call for being the reason behind it. You knew very well who he was out with — Sam Uley’s gang. A bunch of delinquents. And now Embry, your best friend, was one of them.
Two weeks ago, he’d gotten sick and missed a few days of school. When he came back, he had a tattoo and had cropped his chin-length hair even shorter. But the worst part was that he’d suddenly started ignoring you, like you didn’t matter anymore, like you’d been just a stepping stone he’d used to get into Sam’s gang. A temporary best friend that he’d replaced with Jared Cameron and Paul Lahote.
And it hurt you right down to your bones.
Slipping on your shoes, you decided to go out for a while and try to clear your head, though in reality, you were just hoping you would stumble onto Embry and his new friends. You were itching to yell at him and give him a piece of your mind. Maybe even hit him once or twice. He certainly deserved it.
Promising your mother you wouldn’t stay out too late, you hurried to your car and started driving down to the reservation. As the sun set below the line of thick trees in the distance, it almost looked to be weeping, its sickly yellow-orange rays faltering and giving way to the dark. It only made you that much more morose.
You drove past the only diner in La Push — and stomped hard on the brakes. Four boys were walking out, two of which were laughing raucously. You recognized them as Jared and Paul, and instantly wanted to puke. Beside them were Sam and Embry; the latter looked slightly amused but seemed to be less interested in their conversation.
You got out of your car and slammed the door shut, instantly getting everyone’s attention. Jared and Paul stopped laughing and took a defensive stance, though they really shouldn’t have. It wasn’t their asses you’d be kicking.
“Two weeks, Embry — two weeks!” you exclaimed. “You piece of shit didn’t bother to call back once! Oh, but it’s totally fine, right? Because now you’re so hardcore, following Sam Uley around like a lost puppy.”
“Easy,” Sam warned, though you weren’t exactly sure who he was warning — you or Paul, who was starting to tense beside him.
Embry winced. “(Y/N), don't—”
He met your eyes and seemed to lose his train of thought. He breathed sharply — almost painfully — and took a step back from you. Sam put a hand on Embry’s shoulder as if to steady him.
“Crap,” Jared muttered.
You felt lightheaded and dazed as if waking up from a bad dream — only you weren’t dreaming. Embry was still very much Sam’s Embry, all tattooed and heartless, and you knew your best friend was never coming back to you.
“(Y/N),” Embry said, though it was barely above a soft whisper. If you hadn’t known better, you would have thought he was aching inside, too.
You shook your head and got back in your car, not wanting to let him see you cry. He didn’t have that right anymore.
The car tires screeched as you sped away, Embry becoming smaller and smaller in your rearview mirror until he was gone.
★ Below the cut are #55 gifs of the actor Kiowa Gordonas Junior in s02e05 (22) and s02e06 (33) of The Red Road (as requested by @pettywrites). Kiowa is of Hualapai and Scottish descent, please cast him accordingly. All gifs were made by me and are only intended for roleplaying purposes. Do not repost, claim as your own, edit in any way, or include in gif hunts. Please like this post if using or saving any gifs and reblog only if you’re an rp related blog.
Embry is quieter and shyer than some of the other boys on the reservation. He is playful, but still comes across as being very reserved. Between Jacob and Quil, Embry is closest to Jacob because of their genuine interests in automotives and riding dirt bikes.
100+ gifs of Kiowa Gordon, an American actor of half White and half Hualapai descent. These are mostly from, but not limited to, the 2013 film The Lesser Blessed.
Please like if you use for roleplaying. Don’t touch/edit them otherwise and please message me concerning other uses (because you can, but just ask). These were all made by me. I can assure you they’re all small and high quality.
what are some good shows/movies of the actors/actresses i can watch??
please keep in mind that i have only watched a few of these! a (*) means i super recommend it! :-)) I’ve linked the trailers to each of the movies/shows below, if I was able to find a trailer! All of these are pretty easy to find online to stream. *I only included movies where they have a more prominent role, and are more recent and easily accessible.
CHASKE SPENCER/SAM ULEY: - Winter in the Blood(BONUS: Julia Jones is his co-star in this!) I haven’t watched this personally, but according to a friend of mine, it’s pretty good! (2013)
BRONSON PELLETIER/JARED CAMERON: -Fishing Naked* (BONUS: Tinsel Korey is his co-star in this!) This is a comedic movie! All about this guy named David and his friends pulling pranks to scare off fishing tourists and media. (2015)
ALEX MERAZ/PAUL LAHOTE: - Never Back Down 2 This is also a pretty good movie. Alex plays this guy called Zach Gold and he joins this underground fighting ring to prove something to himself. If you want to see him dancing, shirtless, and fighting in a ring, this is the movie for you! ;;))) (2011) -Mine Games I haven’t watched this personally, but another friend who likes the wolf pack said she really likes this movie! It’s a horror movie, and that’s all I really know about it! (2012) - SUICIDE SQUAD: COMING OUT AUGUST 2016 HOLY FUCK.. I’M SO PROUD OF ALEX FOR LANDING A ROLE IN THIS EVEN IF IT’S SORTA SMOL!! As much as we can see in the trailer, he plays a soldier that accompanies Harley Quinn when she ventures off to do her thing! (You can see Alex in the background of the scene where Harley Quinn is talking about the voices to the soldiers, and the last scene where Harley Quinn breaks the glass of a shop display to grab a purse! He’s also in one frame of the trailer fist-bumping Scott Eastwood! ((listen 2 me that scene slayed my fucking life i was dead i was like yas alex slay me bitch)) He’s sporting a pretty gnarly beard and moustache, so he might be a little hard to spot. Nothing a quick rewind and pause can’t find, though!) I’m so fucking hyped for this movie y’all don’t even know omg… He was also rumored to play a Jason Todd/Robin or smth,, and his role is pretty ambiguous/no-one gives a shit ab his role so who knows?? Maybe his character sneaks up on ya in the film!
KIOWA GORDON/EMBRY CALL: -the Red Road*(BONUS: Jason Momoa is the main character!) This is such a good TV show. It fucks with your mind and Kiowa is pretty bad-ass in this. Here’s a link to an interview about the show where he mentions the Twilight cast and the wolf-pack! :-)) It’s available to watch on Netflix! Kiowa plays this kid named Junior who lives on a reservation. This show is AWESOME. It really just reveals what reservation life is, touches on police brutality and power manipulation, racism, etc.. I really recommend you to watch it if you enjoy crime/mystery shows! (2014-2015) - the Lesser Blessed I haven’t personally seen this, but again, a friend watched it and she really enjoyed it! It’s based off a book, I believe. Kiowa really seems to like playing more angsty roles. (2012) - Wind Walkers This looks like an interesting movie that I haven’t gotten around to watching! I’ve been meaning to. It’s apparently a horror film about Native American monsters. (sorry if I worded that wrong!) (2015)
TYSON HOUSEMAN/QUIL ATEARA V: - Feed the Devil I wasn’t able to find a stream for this movie, unfortunately. I don’t know much about it, either, so watch the trailer!! (2014)
JULIA JONES/LEAH CLEARWATER: - The Ridiculous Six:(BONUS: Taylor Lautner is a main star in this!) This is a comedic movie that stars Adam Sandler and other pretty big names. This was fun to watch! However, the movie has stirred up some controversy over the representation of Native Americans. It’s up to you to watch. It’s available to stream on Netflix. When watching the movie, I think you’ll be able to see why many people argue that it’s controversial– again, up to you to watch. (2015) - Longmire: She is a recurring, guest star on this TV show. - She has quite a few upcoming projects to watch out for as well!
BOOBOO STEWART/SETH CLEARWATER: - Descendants: This is a popular original Disney Channel movie that came out last year! Booboo is a main star, and plays the character “Jay”, son of Jafar. Keep in mind that this is a Disney movie, and it probably won’t appeal to older audiences. I personally didn’t like it just because it was very cliche, but that isn’t to say that the film isn’t good! It’s just not my taste. (2015) - White Frog:* Can I just say: Booboo’s performance in this is INCREDIBLE. He plays a boy with Asperger’s Syndrome, who struggles with his social and personal life after his older brother passes away. There are some awesome stars in this like Gregg Sulkin, and Tyler Posey. This is a wonderful movie to watch with a lovely moral and awesome POC and LGBTQ representation! (2012) - X-Men: Days of Future Past: Booboo has a small role in this film as a superhero called “Warpath”. - Honestly, this kid has so many movies and projects to his name, so trust me, you’ll be able to keep up with him. (2014)
TINSEL KOREY/EMILY YOUNG: - Fishing Naked: see above in Bronson Pelletier’s section! (2015)
TANAYA BEATTY/RACHEL BLACK: - Arctic Air: This is an old Canadian TV series that I believe got cancelled? Anyways, it’s not a bad TV show, and all the full episodes are available on the CBC website, which will be linked HERE. It’s about an airplane hangar facility, and it’s got some interesting drama surrounding it. I think Tanaya is pretty good in this, and is a central character, especially in later seasons! If you ever need screencaps of her, this is the place you want to go. (2012-2014) - Words and Pictures: This is an old rom-com movie. Tanaya, based on the trailer, seems to be a central student in the movie– which I haven’t seen! - the Night Shift:(premiering June 1st, 2016) This is a Canadian medical drama TV series! Tanaya will be playing a central doctor in pretty much every episode. I’m super excited because I love medical dramas and it’s coming out really soon!! :’’) - Tanaya has guest-starred on the hit TV show, “the 100″ as Mel, in the episodes “Many Happy Returns” and “Human Trials”. She’s also appeared frequently in the TV shows “Continuum” and “True Justice”. - Tanaya has quite a few projects that will be coming out in the next few years! She will be a main character in a short film called “The Hunt”, which is currently in pre-production starring Matt Daddario(mega heart eye emoji omg), and is also portraying Sacagawea, a national icon and hero Lemhi Shoshone woman who was a vital guide to the Lewis and Clark expedition, in an upcoming TV mini-series currently in post-production.
**Please keep in mind that most of these movies are low-budget, or indie movies. Don’t expect brilliant, Oscar-worthy pieces of art– and take the projects for what they are. If you don’t like them, don’t leave nasty reviews and discredit all these incredibly hard-working individuals’ efforts and talents. If you’re thinking: “Why do many of these actors mainly have small, indie roles in lower-end productions?”, remember that it’s all a part of a bigger problem surrounding Native American talent and content.
Be reasonable y’all, and respect all the hard work put into the performances, production, and years of effort it took to get these actors and actresses to where they are today.
**Also keep in mind that these are all based off what I could find on the Internet! Some of this info may be outdated, or wrong, but it’s unlikely it is. HAPPY WATCHING!
***EDIT: for Alex Meraz, if u can handle a sad story, pls watch his episode of “New Worlds”!!! It’s super easy to find on YouTube (literally just search “New Worlds Alex Meraz”) and it should be there in pretty good quality!!! I just reblogged an old ask where I link the episode!!!
