KartKraft is a great looking new racing game that brings a heavy dose of realism to the kart racing genre, forgoing green shells and banana skins for high fidelity visuals, realistic racing physics and carts that can go from 0-100km/h faster than a Lamborghini Aventador.

ModNation Racers - released in 2010

Still popular among many PS3 enthusiasts, ModNation Racers has been deemed the ’LittleBigPlanet’ of kart racing. The entire game is virtually customizable from characters to karts to tracks. Hours alone are spent customizing, and the online community is rich and full of life. I’ve spent many hours just scrolling through user content as there are many talented people out there who have flawless creations. If you haven’t checked out ModNation Racers yet, you’re only hurting yourself.

It all started with this

Mario kart has been around since 1992, being a critical and commercial success, It’s no wonder Nintendo hasn’t stopped developing new Kart titles. With Mario Kart 8 releasing in a couple weeks, I wanted to look back at all of the main Mario Kart titles and see all the things that have changed over the years in this Kart-racing franchise.

If I had 2 million dollars, I’d make a completely community-supported kart racer. Like Mugen, but for kart racers. Completely hooked in to the Steam Workshop so people could post custom karts and drivers and tracks, and you could subscribe to your favorite creators or collections.

Ever want a kart racer where you drive a Ferrari? Now you can do that.

What about the Garry’s Mod community, that ports everything from other games? Create the ultimate mash-up; Mario Kart vs. Crash Team Racing vs. Diddy Kong Racing vs. Mickey’s Speedway vs. Sega All-Stars vs. you driving some half-assed recreation of Dracula from Konami Krazy Racers

On the Nurburgring

Customization options all up everywhere in everything. Want to go full chaos party game? You can do that. Want to play it Fox, No Items, Final Destination style? That’s valid too.

Implement all of the expected community stuff from Mario Kart 8, but go a step further and include Starcraft 2-style competitive tiers and rankings. Turn kart racing in to an esport.

And given how they’ve been up for it previously, see if Valve would be okay with something ridiculous like a Team Fortress 2 cup or something
