Today, our lazy sunday movie review will be on a film that is currently available on Netflix.
Currently on Flixster/Rotten Tomatoes it is rated rotten with 32% (Critics) and 24% (Users).
April (Brittany Allen) is heading to her family’s cabin which is about to be placed on the market. Her boyfriend Kyle (Freddie Stroma) agrees to accompany her to enjoy the cabin one last time.
While they are attempting to leave, Kyle’s best friend Seth (Jesse Moss) with his girlfriend Lex (Anja Savcic) and April’s close friend Melanie (Melanie Papalia), are awaiting downstairs to join April and Kyle on the cabin trip, which was a surprise to April.
Once our group of college kids reach the cabin they start to party with alcohol, weed and fireworks. During the middle of the night they heard a loud noise and observed what appears to be a giant meteor crashing into the woods.
They go to investigate the debris, and realize that it was not a meteor but a spaceship.
Then noticed footprints heading towards their cabin…
What I struggled with on this film
As soon as I saw the friends waiting outside, then directly afterwards watched a montage of them driving to the cabin; I knew where this movie was heading…
Straight into a stereotypical cheesy college kid party, which happens to be in a cabin. However, instead of evil spirits, masked murders, or a collection of nightmares below them.
This time it would be ALIENS!
There’s a scene where a tree is blocking the only road that will take them back to town, and our group of college kids are in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The tree was fairly large enough that they would not be able to drive over it. However, there was an open field where they could have just drove around it.
Notice the girl just standing in a open field.. while the Jeep stays on the road.
What I LOVED…
When the alien spacecraft crashed into the woods.
All I could think of was Danny McBride somehow being responsible for that epic explosions behind the scenes.
Jesse Moss who played Seth, was also in another film that involves a cabin, where he goes full bat shit cray.
Its called Tucker & Dale vs. Evil If you have time to catch that film, Please do so! It’s a great HORR-OMEDY!!!
If you click on the above listed link, it will direct to my review of Tucker & Dale :)
This film did have some creepy scenes…

This film lost me once I saw the group of friends being eagerly excited to head to the cabin. It has been done so many times that it gives me a major case of Deja vu.
The visuals in this film were shockingly impressive! It seemed that this film was on a smaller budget; However, I think they did an excellent job with CGI and lighting.
Chris’s Rating : n/a

Suitable for a Date: Meh, If ya’ll are both fans of Alien flicks; then sure why not!
