Jane Bennett

Love & Friendship (2016) directed by Whit Stillman

Summary: Beautiful young widow Lady Susan Vernon visits to the estate of her in-laws to wait out the colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst ensconced there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and a future for her eligible but reluctant daughter, Frederica. In doing so she attracts the simultaneous attentions of the young, handsome Reginald DeCourcy, the rich and silly Sir James Martin and the divinely handsome, but married, Lord Manwaring, complicating matters severely.

ok so i know we all love elizabeth bennett, but please consider: jane.

jane, who never sees bad in people, not because she doesn’t know it’s there, but because she belives they are inherently good, and so that’s how she chooses to see them.

jane, who is stunningly beautiful and could feasibly marry anyone she wanted, but who waits for someone that matches her in personality and goodness, someone she connects and falls in love with, and who falls in love with her for the same reasons.

jane, who loves and is protective of her sisters just as much as lizzie, who holds lizzie’s opinion higher than her own, whose love and affection isn’t so readily noticeable just because she is shy and gentle.

jane, who put aside her own broken heart because lizzie was unhappy and that mattered more to her.

just, jane. she is so kind and lovely please appreciate her.
