London Punks outside the Indonesian embassy in support of the Jakarta Punks!
If you can - get down there, support & represent. Solidarity.

“Jakarta mayor has said indonesian government’s attacks on punks will continue. 64 punks are currently being held without charge, have had their heads shaved and been submerged in a lake - witness reports of brutal arrests. Their crime? Attending a punk benefit gig for orphans. Government trying to re-programme their minds - punks have said they will continue to be punk upon release and this has increased their hatred for authority. The mayor says the police will continue to hunt for punks and arrest them without charge.”

You can call the indonesian embassy on 02074997661 and tell them how you feel about their treatment of innocent people…

In Jakarta it isn’t uncommon for a sea of trash to float just above the actual ocean. Here, EDO, one of the punks we follow in the upcoming short film LAMUNAN OI!, we see him playing his ukulele for some local children while he sings one of his favorite MARJINAL songs (one of the most popular Indonesian punk bands). Edo’s mohawk was sculpted by his best friend EKA, who is known around East Jakarta for his famous mohawk sculptures. Some punks will only let Eka touch their hair. The punks often sing songs with lyrics about social, political and environmental corruption in the area.

Punk life starts young in Jakarta! There are plenty of other cute faces in the upcoming short film, Lamunan Oi! A portrait of Indonesian punk youth living in a country the faces extreme religious adversity, poverty, and government corruption.
